My buddy coached him in high school at Athens Drive.

Josh took BP at the Durham Bulls one day while he was out of baseball. BOTH teams quit warming up just to watch Josh hit. Even then, he was still hitting bombs like he did in the derby.

2. Jerry Narron was Josh's Manager back when he was with the Reds, he obviously no longer Coach's Josh but his brother is still with him daily making sure he's on track. Jerry used to play for the Yanks back in the day of Doyle and others

3. He was just signed a few months ago by a Christian sports agent Scott Sanderson who is very familiar with LU and Lynchburg being in Nashville himself.

Easy now. I did coach against soccer & flag football teams featuring Ron Dayne in the TRBC youth leagues back in the day. But until the kids on the soccer teams i have coached the past few years join the EPL and US MNT I'll have to stick to my media connections.

then you would have been pitching him BP in a home run derby when you're 71

This is Five County Stadium where the Carolina Mudcats play in my hometown of Zebulon, NC.

During a high school game played here (playoffs, IIRC) Josh hit the TOP of the scoreboard in left-center for a grand slam. It's 385 in the alley. Oh, he had already hit a homer in that game.

Zebulon...LOL...WOW...never thought I've been so lost in my life...a friend of mine was Managing the team back years ago and I was (what I thought to be) near Zebulon and it was a game night....that place is in the middle of no where...and I remember thinking the club house reminded me of a double wide...but judging by your pictures it actually looks really nice!...you're from there??? I remember the players talking about how they have to live 20 miles from the park...have they done renovations or something?

Yeah, they've done a lot of upgrades to the facilities there since it opened in the early 90's. They were a AA team for the Pirates when they opened. Bonds was still playing for the Pirates, & they came down to play an exhibition opener. Bonds took a 3-1 fastball for a ride that stopped at the chain-link fence by the highway....oh, yeah...it was dead-center when it went out.

Born & raised in Zebulon. It's not that bad. Just take 64 from Raleigh & you're there in less than 30 minutes.

Josh is a monster. I remember watching the state champinship, I think his junior year. He had two bombs but before he hit the second one he called his shot. The teams were talking a lot of smack and basically he told the pitcher what he was about to do and he did it. Thats when the Josh Hamilton legend really began I think. (they did lose the game however)

I think that's the game. I couldn't remember if it was a playoff game or the state championship.

i too remember hamilton playing at athens drive when i first moved to raleigh. he was always on the news and i went to see him play one night and dude hot some titanic blasts. im glad he is doing well now.

If major league baseball had a comeback player of the year award Id give it to Josh Hamilton hands down. to go from where he was personally to what he is doing now is amazing
