"The Big Hurt" is now looking for work. Any AL teams need a 39 year old clean-up hitting DH?

TORONTO (AP) — Slumping designated hitter Frank Thomas was released Sunday by the Blue Jays, who cut the 19-year veteran one day after he became angry for being taken out of the lineup...The move leaves the Blue Jays on the hook for the remainder of the two-year $18-million contract the 39-year-old Thomas signed in November 2006.

Thomas was hitless in his past 13 at-bats and had gone 4-for-35 since homering in three straight games April 5-8. Known as a slow starter, he batted .167 with three homers and 11 RBIs for Toronto this year. Last season, Thomas batted .277, leading the team with 26 home runs and 95 RBIs.

He'll sign with someone. He can still produce, he just wasn't at the beginning of the season. Both sides said this was a professional decision and was handled professionally by both sides. Thomas didn't want to go through the process of getting benched day after day, so he wanted to be released.

did you see his press conference? this wasn't handled professionally by both sides....thomas is a cry baby (he used to be one of my favorite players by the way) who whined in his interview with chicago sports radio....he had no idea this was going to happen...

thats what mike north told him on the radio....but thomas said he slow started last year and ended up leading the team in rbi's...

still for a dh to hit so poorly is inexcusable....its all you do...

Sounds like your getting a future hall of famer with a chip on his shoulder. He'll probably hit 45 HRs and knock in 100 RBI's for his next team. If they sign him, do they have to pick up his full salary?
