Seems to me to be a pretty big story. The guy stuck it out for longer than most thought he would, and now ends up with a peach job. Thoughts?

Good for Crean. Of course, this also sucks for him. He's going to have to clean up a big mess and probably have to deal with some sort of NCAA probation. He's going to have a hard time winning there for a few years and IU has, historically, not shown a great deal of perspective when it comes to their basketball program.

Great guy...He used to leave me tickets to Michigan St games at Christmas time when we were both lowly assistants at our respective schools. He can recruit Michigan and he will probably hire an indiana guy to help recruit the state. He does have a huge mountain to climb depending on how hard the NCAA hammers IU. I wonder if he will keep Dakich as an assistant. I don't know how much of a chance Ray McCallum or Coach have a chance to stay on though. I should see Coach Meyer at the final 4 this weekend so I am sure the subject will be broached.

I think Indiana could have gotten a better guy. I've never been sold on his recruiting skills. At a big east school and he is basically recruiting like a mid major just about.

Didn't you say you were a marquette grad? I would think you would be happy about this if you feel that way. I personally think the loss of Crean is going to hurt the Big East unless they can find a dynomite replacement.

He recruited Dwayne Wade and went to a final four with Marquette. Recruiting-wise he'll do fine. In fact, the sky will be the limit at IU.

Personally, I think that this is a great choice for Indiana. This is the kind of coach who can take them back to the top without all of the unneeded baggage associated with winning in the Knight years.

Crean will have them playing top-notch defense in no-time. That team needs a bunch of no-name nobodies who get after it on defense and will lay-low. I think Crean will do a good job with this program. He will be able to keep most of his recruiting hotbeds too.

What?? The guy coached for a small school in Milwalkee, and his team has some serious studs on the roster. They played against Big East competition and still held in the top 25. This guy can recruit, he can coach, and he has name recognition, the three biggest keys to any college basketball program.
