Ok...I know that the floor is raised...but why? I thought it may have been just one court that was that way...but looking tonight Detroit was that way and Houston...why????

There was an article on espn.com about this. The reason the court is elevated is because the NCAA decided to put the court at midfield of the football stadiums they are in instead of on one end of the field. It has something to do with opening up more seating. That caused the floor to be elevated and supposedly created a better view.

coaches and players absolutely hate this new setup. I don't know if it was in that article, but Chalmers from Kansas basically said he wasn't going to hustle as much if the ball is going out of bounds in order to prevent injury.
If the NCAA wants to bank as much coin a possible then these setups are necessary to take advantage of the stadiums. This is not a new phenomenon by any means.

or they could just have commercials every 2 minutes in real time (as opposed to clock time). i mean this year they have commercials it seems like every 4 minutes they are having a commercial and then sell more advertising in the stadiums...
