I'm a Tigers season ticket holder for the first time in my life (I took a risk and bought 4 season tickets for $3,300. I've already sold my opening day seats for $600) Hopefully I'll break even and get to see a bunch of games for free. If we do get hot, I'll make a fortune in the playoffs.

Anyway, I think we got a good deal for Cabrera . This guy will only be 33 when this contract ends. The stat below makes me really happy he is here for a long time:

Cabrera averaged 32 homers and 115 RBI while hitting .318 the past four seasons for the Marlins. The only players to at least match him in their averages in all three categories over that four-year span were Albert Pujols and Vladimir Guerrero, according STATS LLC.

He's a great talent. But that is a ton of money for a guy to come into a pitcher's park.

I'm kinda sad as a baseball fan that you didnt buy 4...3 to sell and 1 to enjoy the games free!

his weight concerns me. i don't know if he's dropped it some since spring training, but that guy was just flat out fat as heck in florida and I think that could lead to some leg or back injuries once he hits his 30s

Well if he just signed an 8-year deal, and he'll be 33 when it's done, that means half that contract will come in his 30s...

It's worked alright for Andruw Jones. Sadly, this deal sets the bar a little higher for the Braves to sign Tex long-term. If there was any doubt before that Boras was going to seek $20/per, it was erased by Cabrera's deal.

Should be a great season between your Tigers and my beloved Tribe.

BTW, your team signed a star in the making. I don't think the Indians are re-signing Sabathia. Too much money.
