I would like for this to happen. It came from another board, so take it for what its worth.

"I played golf today with a HUGE Indiana Hoosiers booster who is still very close with Bob Knight and had some very intersting things to say. This man, a Bloomington native, is still very close with Coach Knight and the two have been friends for over 40 years. When Knights players needed a summer/side job when pressed for cash, coach would always call him. Anyway, he said that there is a 0% chance that Knight stays retired and has his eye on NC State. He said in his talks with Coach Knight that the main reason he stepped down when he did was to make sure his son Pat was taken care of, and tried to strongly hint that he was not sure whether or not he would come back, knowing he someday would. I think we can all agree that Coach Knight is not done coaching so he has to have his eye on some position, and my guy tells me RIGHT NOW...NC State is atop his list. If you think about it, it kind of makes sense. Much better conference, high(er) profile school, would be in the heartland of college basketball(not State, just North Carolina in general), and you know dSPN and everyone else in the world would blow up the matchups with Coach K."

didn't they just hire a coach? He's a little too old to be waiting out somebody 90 years younger than him. I think he's done. However, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody hired Brey away from ND and he went there to kind of stick it to IU.

Yeah NC State just hired one of their former players, Sidney Lowe. He was the pg for their NCAA championship team and this is just his 2nd year.

Yeah, but the PACK sucks this year & most of them are already wanting to replace Sid. I mean, they got rid of Sendek while he was taking them to the Big Dance all of the time. He just couldn't beat dook or Carolina, & that made the fans mad. So, they made a change. Now, they can't seem to beat anybody.

NC State fans are insane and not in a LUnatic / Cameron Crazy way. I mean that they're literally delusional and bipolar.

having lived in raleigh for years, state fan is clearly the red-headed step-child, and lives in the past in regards to their hoops glory. a year or two more of losing and state fan will run sidney lowe out of town...even if he is one of their own. that would be a neat thing to have the general on tobacco road though.

I really like the idea of Coach Knight at NC State. Sidney Lowe has absolutely no control of his team. Knight would bring discipline and demand respect and hard work. He could make the team respectable once again. I think it would be great for the ACC. Yearly matchups between Knight and Coach K and Roy Williams would be excellent. I don't really see him going there but I wish he would.

No way Coach Knight goes to NC State. Not just for the above mentioned reasons but also b/c he is really tired of schools that are a little CRAZY. NC State fits that bill. He will go somewhere Texas Tech like where he has a lot of control and are happy with 20+ win seasons and a few runs deep into the Tournament. I was thinking about the ND job as well. He and Digger are friends and people in S Bend still love Digger (They just don't want him to coach!) An Ivy League School also makes sense. Imagine THAT!! Now HE would be doing his best imitation of Cleveland State and Coastal Carolina in the NCAA> The media would EAT IT UP!!!
