Can someone please tell me why a school about as far away from Iceland as possible is called the VIKINGS? That makes as much sense as the Utah Jazz (at least I know WHY Utah is called the Jazz).

I thought the Vikings originally came from Norway? Either way, I'd rather be a Viking from Portland, Oregon than a Blue Hose from Clinton, SC

Yes the vikings WERE Scandanavian, not sure Iceland counts for that. THe Portland State Vikings are named for the FEMALE vikings who got lost on their way to Newfoundland!!!

Why do site make you register to read!?! That really irks me. I don't want to make a commitment like that if their board sucks.
