Rumor has it he is going to Western Carolina...Anyone else hear anything??

I can't imagine they are going to offer him a schollie. He is having an absolutely awful year for NAIA Div II Cedarville.

2.5 ppg in 16 minutes. Shooting 29% from the floor and 19% from 3. 2.3 assists/game was tied for second on the team.

I am surprised such news would break now, given that they are the 15 seed in the NAIA D2 tournament and have work left to do.

.279 fg% thats not good. even worse 50% from the line? OUCH!

cant imagine hes going to get a ride at the D-1 level. but i wonder what the reason is for leaving cedarville.

He may just not like going to a tiny Christian school and want to go to a real university. Western is Western but it's still a real school.

A Cedarville degree is generally held in much higher regard than your standard state university degree. You guys need to learn about schools beyond the Carolinas & Virginia.

I admit I am frankly surprised his numbers aren't better for the Jackets.

I knew someone would say that. I meant "real university" in terms of the atmosphere and all of the things that most universities had.

Are you telling me that most universities don't have corn fields surrounded by the campus?

curious: were his numbers better before the knee injury? or has he been bad all year? I thought I remembered him starting out well....

I think he is too young to coach, he is still in college.

I've taken my basketball team down there 3 out of the last 4 years for team basketball camp. It is literally in the middle of nowhere. There isn't even a fast food place within 5 miles of the place. I believe it is a little stricter than Liberty with rules and they only take above average students (last I heard you needed at least a 24 on your ACT to even be considered). They purposely keep the student body around 3,000-4,000 IIRC, even though they have the room and money to be much larger. I believe they do this because they consider themselves an "Ivy" league type Christian school. The school has a very high academic standard. I have no doubt I would not have made it there because of academics and the social limitations.

I have family members on the faculty and boardat Cedarville and I nearly went there myself (many of my family members are grads). As the Frazees can attest, it is indeed in a tiny town outside of Dayton. And while their facilities are not as large as ours, no one would consider them subpar.

Their sports programs are amazing for the size of their school. I know their guys and girls basketball coaches well (talked to the Coach Martin about losing the Frazees to Liberty), and they are GREAT coaches. The entire university is beautiful and really up to date (or in the process). My biggest criticism is that there is NOTHING going on for a 15 mile radius of the school. We go to camp in the summer time, and it is deathly boring (which is good for the focus of my basketball boys). Perhaps my image of them would change if I visited while school is in session!

Is Dunton really thinking about transferring? Coach Slagle was really high on him and a couple of other freshman and sophomores. He is only graduating one key senior this year and many of the sophomores and freshman saw significant minutes this year. Dunton started quite a few games IIRC. After going to camp at Cedarville, I try to keep track of the kids that worked the camp from their team. From what I understand, this is one of his better recruiting classes and he expects a NAIA title run in the next 2 years if he can keep them healthy and together.

by the way....You know that Coach Slagle coached Brad Soucie in high school and in college (after he transferred from EMU). Brad played at my rival school up here in Michigan. My team lost to Brad's alma mater last week in the state tournament.
