I guess that just proves how irrelevant/clueless this magazine has become.

Please....Beasley plays on a mediocre Kansas State team. Meanwhile, Tyler has helped his team to a #1 ranking. He was a huge difference in the games without Ty Lawson.

Beasley is a great player & will be a better NBA player than Tyler. But, like awards in other big college sports, your team's record comes into play as well.

I still wouldn't even have given him second, Derrik Rose has a lot more talent, scouts and unbiased fans would agree. If record and talent come into play as you say the choice still isn't Tyler.

Beasley has broken a lot of records and a guy on a mediocre team who can put up 40 and 10 a night while being doubled team all game means he is elite i would say.

When we were getting ready to play Carolina [last season], we'd show clips of him to our guys and say, 'See, this is what we mean when we talk about playing hard.' He's putting out more effort for longer stretches than most college players can even begin to understand. And he's certainly great for college basketball."

Well, Coach Few isn't biased & he disagrees with you.

Plus, the fact the Beasley puts up those numbers tells you he is the only option on his team. Tyler puts up his kind of numbers while playing with Lawson, Ellington, & perhaps Green. Player of the Year awards do not necessarily go to the guy with the best numbers....it goes to the guy that betters his team.

Interesting id also like to ask Few how many UNC games he has been watching this season while out coaching and recruiting....id be willing to bet less than a handful.

It's true, have you ever seen KSU play? That is probably the worst coached and unorganized team I have ever seen play. Ever. If I recall correctly, the last place their current coach coached at, was a High School. Their gaurds will launch anything from anywhere. Can you imagine if Beasley was playing on something that resembled a team?

The thing with Hansborough, and I'm not saying he's the best player in the NCAA, is that he went to UNC as a freshman the year after they won the championship (and lost their starting five). Everyone wrote off Carolina, but they barely missed a beat (winning 23 games, including a 12-4 record in conference). He's a good player, and I'm sure that 300+ coaches in D-I basketball would kill to have him on their team.

That being said -- no one will deny that Beasley is a better player. However, he's playing on a team with 10 losses -- and he's a freshman. The group of socially-inept, balding, overweight, half-brained idiots known as "sports writers" will never give POY awards to a freshman.

They did last year.

But Beasley plays in Kansas so the majority of East Coast writers have probably never even seen him play on TV.

Well have to see. In the '81 cover, sans Jordan by Coach Smith's rules, they won it all. In '93, they had Reese on the cover about their #1 ranking, they won it all. In '04-'05, they had McCants on the cover, they won it all.

Hopefully, that trend continues.

True. I have no idea how they beat Kansas a few weeks ago.

If Beasley was on a team like Texas or UCONN & put up the same numbers...he would be the front runner for the award.... hands down.
