You would probably be surprised at how many of these types of moments occur during local telecasts of marathons. You have morning news anchors leading the coverage without scripts talking about something they probably know very little about. That's a recipe for disaster.

I mean, seriously, just grab a couple of guys from a local running store and let them talk about the race. I'm sure they would do it for free and would add a lot to the coverage.

I would guess he lost communications with the other guy - sounded like he was on the course or in a chopper.

I have a feeling the running expert just didn't want to touch that comment with a 10-foot pole.
