This seems to me like a long time coming, but Philadelphia will finally get a pro soccer franchise. I guess the team will be located in Chester. I've heard soccer is big in Philly, so this should be a good thing. What does the all-powerfull Philly Contingent on the board think?

If Philly has some real soccer fans, this could mean a big spike in business for a one mr. PAmedic.

Since the franchises in DC, NJ & NE all seem to draw reasonably well I would guess that Philly could do likewise. I know having the Dynamo in Houston the past two years has been a rousing success. They are working on building a soccer-specific downtown stadium here right now.

I believe smoothie and I make up the entire MLS fanbase on the board unless SJ is in between overseas telecasts.

Hey, hey, I take exception to that. I would humbly call myself the biggest soccer fan on this board.

I'm a huge DC fan. I love soccer period. Liverpool and DC are my two favorite teams in the world. One plays mainly in the winter, one plays mainly in the summer. It's great.

I stand corrected. But all other prior MLS threads essentially were smoothie and I talking to each other.

Viva the Texian Army y El Battallon

My 6-year-old son LOVES Dynamo games.

I personally liked the Tampa Bay Rowdies, of course a different league and they won the championship first year in the league if I remember correctly

Yeah, I'm happy Philly will have a MLS franchise, and they have a strong supporter group in the Sons of Ben. But, it'll fizzle out, and I think the fans will turn their backs on them.....

The problem with this team is where the stadium will be located. Chester is not the best of locales in which to be in. Chester is Pennsylvania's version of Camden,NJ. Besides, Philadelphia's best soccer team was disbanded about three years ago. Heather Mitts made me a soccer fan.

I understand completely, my aggy friend.

Soccer fans will go wherever they can find the product they sorely miss from wherever they originated.

Actually, I happen to be an MLS fan too...

DC United and Man. U.

yeah, yeah... label me a band wagoner... blah blah... the fact is that while i'll occasionally cheer for liverpool (although not when they play Man. U.) i hate Arsenal with a PASSION!

I'm also a NZ All Blacks fan... in case there are any rugby fans here... don't worry, if you are a wallabies or springboks fan, i'll regard you as human after we soundly whip your team again...lol
