Crap, I didn't realize I put two of our guys on there. That's tough. No way we get two. I say Alex gets first team, and TeeJay gets second team behind Gaynor who's first.

Winthrop WILL get a first teamer; we will not get more than one.

Just a little baffled with both Winthrop fans picking Maniotoraneously Robinson as thier top player on defense.

I would have guessed Gaynor as the top choice with his 3 steals per game--probably a team record.

Perhaps, Maniotoreanous just appears to be more effective on defense because he's so ineffective on offense.

Mantoris is the best defender in the league hands down. He always draws the opponents best player on defense, held Reid to a horrible night at WU, was the one who shut down Curry to 4-14 shooting and 5 turnovers. His line in the last game was 13 pts, 6-7 rebounds, and 5 blocks. No one gives him credit, but he is as key to WU as anyone else b/c he literally can take the best scorer from the other team completely out of the game. He also guarded Anthony Smith when Smith struggled badly.

I actually mentioned on winthropfans that while Robinson is a better defender than Gaynor, that Gaynor has a better chance of winning the award because he has the better steals numbers..Manny is WU's defensive specialist. He's only a sophomore, but he might be the best lock-down defender I've seen at WU (and can guard anyone from a small/quick guard like Jamarco Warren, who he shut down the other night, or a bigger/stronger player like AZ Reid).

Also, for those that are putting John Williams on the all-freshman team, he isn't eligible (he's a redshirt fr.)...he definitely would make it otherwise.
