Charleston Southern to take on Miami in 2008 football season opener
In what amounts to the biggest game in the history of Charleston Southern's football program, the Buccaneers will open the 2008 season Aug. 28 against the Miami Hurricanes.
The game will be Miami's first game in their new home stadium — Dolphin Stadium, formerly Joe Robbie Stadium. The game will pay CSU its largest guarantee ever and is part of an increasing effort to play BCS opponents in the future. CSU will play at Florida in 2009.
"Our football program has taken strides step by step, and we continue to see the program continue to develop," said CSU athletic director Hank Small. "Playing these types of guarantee games is going to assist in the development of not only our football program, but the entire athletic program at Charleston Southern. We have big plans in the works for a new stadium facility for our football and track programs, and certainly the money we earn from playing guarantee games is going to help a lot."Click Here for Full Story
