Bobby Knight has resigned.....what did he throw this time???

Perhaps he wanted to assure his son would follow him. Nothing surprises me with Knight.

But I wouldn't rule out a medical condition.

I understood that he took a job with the Dolphins. His good buddy, Bill Parcells, is going to be spending a lot of time tied up in the front office so they needed some other cranky old man to randomly yell at people.

You know what they say about Old Army coaches ...

Maybe he's gonna coach football at VMI.

It's about time.

You do if you are Bobby Knight. He just decided he was tired of coaching, and wanted to give Patrick a chance to get used to having the reins for 10 games and solidify his role as the head coach before getting ready for next year. Actually, I think it's a pretty smart move, and I am not a big fan of his.

whether you hate or like the general, you have to respect what he has done for the game of basketball. though some of his tactics were pretty bad at times, he was a solid coach and will be missed in the college basketball community.

it's hard to find a coach in a high-major program these days that wins like he does while violating zero ncaa rules (that we know of) AND graduating a very high % of his athletes.

Roy Williams on Knight's sudden retirement & a funny story:

I don't think a coach like Bobby Knight would retire/resign halfway through the season unless there was something more going one then he is letting on...it could be health like Sly said or something that the University has agreed not to talk about if he would just resign...either way I can not believe Bobby Knight would do this halfway through a season...

He and the University both said it's not for health reasons...

A possible reason for Knight's departure at this time is that the president of the university just announced on Friday that he was retiring. Perhaps Knight thought he needed to do this now to be sure that the university followed through on giving the job to his son.

I agree that may have been a big factor. I also think that Knight is just enough of a "contrarian" to do it now just so people can speculate about why.

His son was chosen in 2005 to take over for daddy. It was already a done deal. Maybe Bobby just wanted him to get his feet wet near the end of the season so he can jump all the way in next year. Dad's sometimes make sacrifices for the kids.

I love this man...everything about him...I would love for my son to play for him, and he'd be a better man for it
