The guys at Keydet Sportstalk are keeping tabs on the candidates in this thread.

That's got to be a tough sell to an established coach. But they might snare a young riser. It'd be great if they could get that program rolling once again.

it was scary enough being in that position here, when we felt we had many upsides to our program.

I just don't know how you sell that situation to a prospective coach- it'll take a special person to come in there. Best of luck to them, though- would love to see them get back to a competetive level.

Forget Karcher, VMI needs Morgan Hout.

He makes a lot of sense and he's not as old as you would think he would be considering his resume. The article doesn't really mention much about his run as head coach at Appy or South Carolina.

Who are you kidding? I grew up watching Sparky turn a rising Gamecocks program into a synonym for mediocrity. He only reached the 6-win "peak" twice in five years and then got run out of Columbia as fast as the boosters could send him. Granted, VMI would probably kill for 6 wins right now but if Woods is going to be their guy, all I can say is "Goodie, goodie, goodie!"

If I am not mistaken he was the coach of the gamecocks when there was a player revolt led by QB tannyhill, if I remember the name correctly, not sure about the spelling.

Bobby Knight anyone???

In all reality I really do think he'd be a good fit for VMI (basketball that is)...I mean he was at West Point and this would be great for him since it seems like he's not looking for a high profile job now and just wants to coach....but I'll take this to his thread

Sparky took the job. Will he be confused if our mascot shows up in Lexington?

a PC fan talking junk! my point exactly if spark can get VMI six wins a year or even four im sure they will be happy. he will at least make them competitive.
