Is UNC Asheville developing a reputation for home cooking?

Two coaches who visited the Justice Center recently for men’s basketball games complained about the referees following close losses to the Bulldogs.

Last Saturday against Liberty in the Big South Conference opener, Asheville went on a 7-0 run with 2:01 left in the game to rally for a 74-70 win in front of a capacity crowd.

The foul totals (Liberty led 18-15) and free throw attempts (Asheville 24, Liberty 13) were fairly routine, but the Flames picked up a pair of technical fouls on head coach Ritchie McKay and assistant Dale Layer.

McKay, in his first season at Liberty, was unimpressed with his first taste of BSC officiating.

According to the newspaper, Liberty players were complaining that Asheville players were taunting them.

ha, we sound like a bunch of babies.

The way that was stated, yes we do. However, we were getting in trouble for running our mouths (Alex getting T'd for it at VT) and Asheville was doing things way worse than Alex and not getting anything.
