All their doing is tying that word to themselves and making a bad word of it. I never have thought of that word and thought it pertains to black people - it is a word that means - To execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob. Back in the old days, many people, no matter the color were lynched for breaking the law.
Here is a odd story - When I worked up with the Bullets/Wizards - I had a group of friends that were going to drive back and see a Liberty game - I think - it's been a while and I'M OLD:) One of the boyfriends (who was black) said that he wouldn't go. His excuse was because it was named Lynchburg. I asked him why that would deter him from going, and what he thought Lynchburg was named after. He proceeded to tell me that it was because this area in Central Virginia was a place where many slaves were Lynched and killed. I corrected him - and told him the story of John Lynch. He still wouldn't go.
