He probably should never have come back in the first place. Though he did get the Redskins to two playoff games, his image as a head coach took a tarnishing.

Actually it was elevated IMHO. To come back into the game cold turkey after that much time and improve a dreadful franchise was very impressive.

I think Gibbs has taken on much more criticism than praise since coming back. He took over a horrid team with an owner who has no problem signing guys that can play to a pair of playoff games, which they lost. So he gets praise for that? Yes, he had his starting QB injured, I'll give him that, but with the amount of money being paid to each position on the Redskins (including coaches!) you have to produce more of a winner IMHO.
