That happend a few years ago too. Which is why everybody claims that USC won it twice in a row, but LSU was the real champ that first year. I remember the year Texas won it all the media practically had crowned USC as the 3 time champion when in fact they really have only one it that one time.

I crowned USC champ that year too in my head because I hate the BCS and root for pure chaos to bring a playoff maintained by the NCAA to the big boys. Penn State got screwed out of a championship in 1994 and I'm still bitter about it!

see...i never understood that...I think a playoff system would bring more viewers and therefore ratings are higher, therefore advertising will bring in more revenue which I would think be a good thing for these presidents....

you can still have other bowl games...college basketball still has the NIT...so there is no reason not to have the other lower bowl games....

I concur. I am a big fan of a playoff system. The two main hold ups are the Big 10 & Pac 10 commissioners. They don't want to lose their tie ins to the Rose Bowl...even though people outside of those conferences could care less who plays in the Rose Bowl if it's not for the National Championship.

I concur. I am a big fan of a playoff system. The two main hold ups are the Big 10 & Pac 10 commissioners. They don't want to lose their tie ins to the Rose Bowl...even though people outside of those conferences could care less who plays in the Rose Bowl if it's not for the National Championship.

The hold up definitely is on the hands of the Big Ten and PAc Ten. They are stubbornly believing that they have already given a lot to "allow" the Rose Bowl to be a part of the BCS. I agree that playoffs are the only way to go, it's painfully obvious to everybody but the people in charge. The NCAA needs to step in and create their own national championship and make it known that their championship will be the one that goes down in the record books of the NCAA. If the big schools do not want to participate, then let the Boise States and Central Michigans of the world take home the honor until the BcS comes around.
