Saban contacts West Virginia?

Sources close to University President Mike Garrison have informed WBGV that Nick Saban’s agent has contacted WVU regarding our vacant head-coaching position.

These sources tell us that Saban is extremely unhappy in Tuscaloosa and has failed to recapture the situation he had in Baton Rouge with LSU. The purpose of the agent’s call was to express initial interest in the position and to have WVU athletics put together a compensation package enough to lure Saban from Alabama. This package would not need to be as much as Saban is currently making at Alabama, but enough to not result in a 50% paycut. So, we’re obviously talking more than the $1.9 million former coach Rich Rodriguez was making.

Again, this is all very preliminary, but solid sources have confirmed that Nick Saban’s agent has contacted West Virginia University.

Just when you think you have heard it all. Let me give you a few suggestions as to what WVU can do with Nick Saban....

WGBV is not a news outlet. It's a fan site so I don't know how credible this "breaking news" is.

Would it suprise anyone if Saban was out of Alabama within the next two years? I wouldn't be suprised. He's already under fire for a mediocre season after many proclaimed that Alabama was going to be back this year.

If that's true then Alabama fans are completely insane.

The problem I see with that is WVU and VT hate each other. It'd take a while for WVU fans/boosters to get behind a guy from Tech.

Actually folks here in Tuscaloosa are still very happy and, by our standards, willing to be patient until Nick get's his own recruits in. Although this season was frustrating most recognized that it was a lack of talent and some off the field discipline issues that plagued this year's team. I don't know a single person who wants coach Saban to leave. Now after another year or two...well this is Alabama...

If we thought Petrino took it hard from the media. If Saban really did this...wow.

Yep. Foster desperately wants the gig. Tech upped his salary almost $100k, so, who knows. If they offer it to him, he's gone in a heartbeat, however.

Ted Roof will get the job, lol.
Look if Saban is really unhappy because the fans are being too tough on him, I have NO sympathy for him AT ALL. If he didn't know tide fans were nuts b4 going he's stupid.

Thanks for the perspective. I guess some of these things I read online can be a little harsher than needed. Shame on me for not seeking a first hand perspective. I would have thought Saban would be given a grace period anyway. He needs players to compete in the super conference that is the SEC.

I would think that stealing your hated rival's assistant coach and then beating them at their own game would be pretty sweet. Then again, I'm petty and vindictive.
