24 hours before he held the press conference to announce his 5 year contract with Arkansas, he had looked the Falcon's owner in the eye and told him he was not considering the Arkansas job.

20 years of contracts in 18 months; 15 flushed down the toilet; and I'm sure that right now Arkansas is saying how his "character" was one of the main reasons they hired him.

I'm sure he has it all rationalized as "I wanted to coach at the highest level, but then I found out it wasn't for me".

I'm just looking forward to the Arkansas-Alabama game in '08 during which Petrino and Saban will both resign their jobs and sign on with the other team at halftime.

In all fairness, when he signed with Atlanta, his best player wasn't even being looked at by the feds.

Seriously, he signed in what, January of 2007? Vick gets busted in April. Goes to jail. Falcons stink. Can you blame him for wanting to take a $1 million paycut and get out?

Pat Forde sounds like a drama queen. Nobody blamed him for taking the Atlanta job. It's moving up in your profession. What he just did was questionable, but can you blame him for wanting something a little bit more stable? There would be something just as high profile open in 6 or 7 years when he would have gotten canned by the falcons anyway. So he probably should have just waited.

I wouldn't have wanted to wait and endure this long rebuilding process Atlanta is beginning. He was hired to take them from an average team to a playoff team. With Vick out, they are back to phase 1. I don't blame him for leaving, I do blame him for doing it in the fashion he did though.

I think Forde is focusing more on Petrino's character....saying he has no interest in team X, & then taking that job.

I agree with Forde here, nothing wrong with moving up, but there is something wrong with the way he did it.

He probably saw Brohm falling further and further down the board and felt they couldn't reach that far for him.

if i'm looking at a job and they tell me these are the people you will be working with and i take it and the glue that holds the team together leaves and is replaced by incompetence i'd find another job too...

The disloyalty he showed is symbolic of the degradation of personaly responsibility in America. We are all dealy changes everyday from other people who screw up our plans. We have to hang tough and cope. We have to fight through extra work and maybe bad results because of others leaving or dropping the ball. I can't let a show not go on the air just because my top director gets arrested right beforte show time. My point is that life is going to throw the kids that Bobby Petrino has screwed in the past 18 months lots of curve balls. I just hope he hasn't taught the to run. Jerk!

Completely agree. The Arkansas job wouldn't have been there in 3 weeks.

like i said, i think he did it entirely wrong....wait until the season is over, don't play the "yes i'm your coach" game...be truthful and honest....if that was done, i'd of not had a problem with him doing what he did...

i thought all along he didn't belong in the nfl as a head coach....he bit off more than he can chew....he's obviously realizing this and going back to where he's comfortable...

and we aren't just talking about a tackle quitting or a guard....we are talking about the best athlete (notice i didn't say football player) that the sport has ever seen. that team has like a .200 winning % when vick is not on the field vs .750 when he is (those #'s might not be accurate but i knows its close)....bobby was taking the reigns of a playoff team....a team that was ready to win....7 months later it was a bottom feeder needing to take 3 or 4 years to rebuild....

you make it seem like losing vick is like losing your best burger maker at mcdonalds....

yeah, we have players holding out, demanding trades, etc. and we don't get mad because they say "it's just business". But when a coach does it, he's a terrible person. Have any of you guys seen the note that was on the players' locker? Now that is not cool. Dude left a 3 sentence note for his players instead of manning up and telling them in person. That's pathetic. I'll see if I can find a copy.

you realize he was at Louisville for 4 seasons right before he signed that contract??

The owners have NO loyalty toward coaches or players. Why should they be loyal? None of you can tell me that if the move benifited your family in some way, you wouldn't have done it either.

It's not the fact that he did it, but the timing that's getting everyone all up in arms. Big deal.
