This has been in the works for the last 2 months or so...it's been hush hush....whats crazy is it was just sold a year ago and then the people who bought it flipped it and sold it again...from what appears to be a VERY smart business decision.

HMO, how many other MLB teams actually own their affiliate teams?

It's becoming a lot more common...Boston really likes this model and soon enough they will own their entire minor league system...if you think about it, it really makes sense to do it this way as much as I hate to admit it. Think about it like this...Lynchburg has a GM who is very good, creative and has a very good baseball mind and how much easier it would be for him to change jobs to the major league club if both owned by the same group.
I'm pretty sure a lot of the west coast teams do this...as for a number, I'm curious now and I'm going to need to find out...

At one time Salem was the Pirates or Buccaneers and Lynchburg was the Red Sox,now they've switched.
