Amherst(13-0) plays Sherando(13-0) at 4:30 and Monticello(12-1) plays Richlands(11-2)at noon. amherst and richlands look to repeat as champs and there will be plenty of future FCS and FBS players on the field as at least a few amherst players have signed with va. tech.

All the local tv stations and the VHSL have said how much they love LU being the host for the championships and that our faciilities are second to none. hopefully we will catch the eye of some of the top talent in the state.

I was actually watching college football live Wednesday night and they were talking about some big time WR that was one of the best in the country and they showed his highlights with the majority of them at Williams Stadium. I'm assuming they were playing in a championship game, but it was cool to see all the Liberty stuff around on ESPN for that long. Does anyone have a clue who I'm talking about. I forgot who he played for, but i'm assuming he is probably the highest rated WR in Virginia.

Kid that plays for Christchurch in Charlottesville. He played against LCA earlier this year.

Are you talking about St. Anne's-Belfield where Chris Long played?

Richlands lost to Monticello 36-22. MHS was actually up 36-6 going into the 4th but the Blue Tornado scored 2 and were actually driving for another but they fumbled and then had their last drive stall late in the going

Amherst won 56-10 (I believe).

The game had a lot of potential early on. The Sherando QB was legit. He was about 6-2 and 205. Big QB that could move. They ran a spread offense that Amherst had trouble stopping. With Amherst leading 14-10 in the 1st half, Sherando had a 3rd and goal from the 1 yard line, and instead of giving it to their big RB (whom Amherst had not been able to stop at this point) Sherando ran a bootleg and the Sherando QB got sacked and somebody rolled up on his ankle, essentially ending his game. He tried to continue, but was limping siginificantly. He only played a few more plays.

As soon as that happened, Sherando was done. Their backup QB had the passing ability of a so-so powder puff player. Sherando had to completely change their entire offensive game plan and try to run the fb, and that was not going to work.

So...it had the potential of being a real good, high scoring game that suddenly turned into a rout. I definitely think AHS would have still won because SHS had no way to stop Peter Rose or the rest of the AHS offense, but it would have been a great game to watch. It would have been a classic SHS (we are bigger than you) and AHS (we are faster than you) type of game.

Not sure, but I do know we were able to rent out some of the suites for the games. Now they're on the way out.
