So far....

VMI trailing a bad Northern Colorado team by 10 with 8 to play, and using that stupid loot and shoot. UNC is shooting over 70% from the field.

High Point is trailing Charlotte by 5 in a really sloppy game. HP being outrebounded badly. Charlotte is something like 5-25 from the line.

UNCA pulls out a win against cellar dwellar socon Furman by 3.

Coastal destroys North Greenville.

Radford blown out by Michigan.

I thought it would be a better first night.

Sounds like my first pick em ever is doing well. I did have Furman over UNCA though. I have very little faith in anybody in this conference.

Not a Big South score, but former Big South member UNC Greensboro opened their season with a win over Georgia Tech tonight. Nice win for the Spartans.

I picked HP over Charlotte, and of course they choked down the stretch, I should have known better.

I also picked VMI over UNC. I thought Duggar might have wised up and not gone with the loot and shoot, guess not.

I got UNCA over Furman. Kenny doesn't let me down.

Big win for WU, knocking off Illinois Chicago by 15, who just dominated 2nd in preseason voting MVC Bradley a week ago.

Georgia Tech is next.

Congrats on the win, WEF...
...I am of the opinion that any D-I non-conference win for a Big South school is a good win. Medic is (dare I say), a little short-sighted in that regard.

Sat league team games...

UNCA 83 Campbell 71. The Bulldogs improve to 4-0 on the year and were led by Kenny George's TRIPLE DOUBLE (20-12-10 blocks).

CSU 90 UVA-Wise 60. Moore with 18 and Carter wtih 16 lead the Bucs over the Highland Cavaliers.

Gardner-Webb 93 Radford 83.

Gardner-Webb obviously didn't expect to beat Kentucky and end up in NYC because they scheduled Radford for today. They ended up playing 3 nights in a row. Is Kenny George the real deal? UNCA is usually 0-10 this time of year due to their tough non-conference schedule. I have to look at their wins but they could be a surprise if KG is proven to be effective.

evidently Kenny has greatly improved his conditioning- his minutes have reportedly gone up this year; however- the season is young.

but you're right- if that kid can play 20-30 minutes a game he could be real trouble

Having a healthy KJ (or is it Kay Jay) :P Garland is a big plus for them too. He was one of the better guards in the conference a few years ago before getting hit with the injury bug.

SCAR...you hit on the key to UNCA's season...INJURIES. They have been injury-riddled the last several years. Add a healthy team to Eddie's final year on his contract...and a much less demanding schedule...and perhaps UNCA can rejoin the upper echelon teams (OK...well maybe 3rd or 4th this year).

Yes, and Eric Gordon, (son of former Flame by the same name) scored 21, to follow up the 33 he scored in his debut against Chattanooga.
