A plan to build a new ballpark north of the Qwest Center Omaha won the NCAA's blessing Friday, and city officials said they hope to finalize the stadium's design and financing plans by Jan. 1.
I know Indy was trying to steal it away...and Omaha stepped up. That is one stop I would LOVE to make...get a week's pass and watch all the games...and tailgate with the fans. I'd rather do that than go to the Masters, even.

I plan on one day spending twelve days in Omaha in the middle of June. I don't know when, but it's one thing I've always wanted to do.

Ooo. The Masters. That's a tough one. Sitting at Amen Corner on a Sunday would be one for the books, but it would be hard to pass up 12 days in Omaha. The only thing that would tip the scale is if the song "Augusta" from the CBS coverage was playing over speakers around the course.

I've been there, done that on the CWS. Its fun for a few days and then its boring until the Championship Series. People where shirts around Omaha that say, "College World Series" on the front and "The Only Two Weeks it doesn't Suck in Omaha" on the back. That about sums it up.
Its not in my Top Five of sporting events or even close. The Masters would definitely make that cut.

You're not as big of a college baseball fan as me and Fumble.

I would challenge you on that subject. I actually enjoy the regionals & super regionals more than the CWS itself. Two weeks in Omaha at Rosenblatt is just too much for my tastes. I love ice cream but not every night for 12 straight days.

I could eat Breyers ice cream 4x's/day, 7 days/wk, 52 weeks/yr
I have no self control.

Who's building it? It appears to look like a HOK project although I cant confirm that...if so they are spending a lot of $$$$$ on the entire project but it'll be done 1st class the whole way

I'm sorry, but I'd take the CWS over the Masters anyday. I'm just not a golf fan, lol.

HOK is based in nearby KC but I haven't seen any drawings for this proposal quite yet.
