Everyone's trying to find stuff out. No one has a clue right now, but I haven't talked to someone at Coastal in probably two weeks.

There is nothing at all on the CCU board although that probably is by design.

When do midterm grades come out?

Is their message board run by the school? Why would it be by design?

Their mods run a pretty tight ship over there. CCU has given them some hard times regarding licensing issues and as a result they try not to rock the boat very often when it comes to speculation.

The first thing was posted on there 20 minutes ago. They don't have very much activity at night.


Also, midterm grades don't effect the eligibility of the current semester.

Mario Tynes and two other CCU players were arrested last night after the game. Drugs and weapon possesion charges are being filed. They are currnetly being held at J Ruben Long Detention Center.

That was on the news in Myrtle tonight.


Interestingly enough, Coach Bennett took the entire team to J Ruben Long detention center before the season started as a lesson of "Don't do anything to get sent here."

CCU players dismissed from team after drug, firearm arrests

Three Coastal Carolina University football players have been kicked off the team following their arrests in Myrtle Beach late Saturday night.

Eric Brown, Ricky Johnson, Jr. , and Mario Tynes face charges of manufacturing, distribution and possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Their arrests came Saturday night following a traffic stop in Myrtle Beach.

According to CCU's website, Brown is a defensive back, Johnson is a wide-reciever and Tynes is also a defensive back on the football team.

All three are 19-year-old sophomores at the university.

Coach David Bennett announced Monday morning that all three have been dismissed from the team.

If it was just "possession" I could see his view of waiting because one player could've had it on him and the other two just happened to be there. However, these are also distribution and, even worse, manufacturing charges. They don't just throw manufacturing charges on anyone.

Plus, you don't get charged with unlawful possession of a gun unless, uh, well, they find a gun on you.

ok, so how does this affect CCU's team on-the-field? Were these guys big-time contributors?

One guy was starting to get some PT. He was developing into a decent DB. The rest weren't that big of a deal.

Eric Brown stood dazed outside his building at the University Place apartments Monday with his parents and two others who were arrested with him early Sunday.

"I thought a tailight was broken or something," Brown said. "They just pulled us out of the car and started patting us down. Then they just started pulling stuff out of the seats and we were all puzzled, looking at each other."

Interesting part of it:

Brown and Johnson said the older-model Ford Crown Victoria that Johnson drives couldn't have been the one police were looking for, because three of its four windows don't roll down.

An emergency dispatch Saturday was called about an older white Ford LTD in which occupants were "flashing guns out the window," according to a police report.

Johnson said the only window that works is the driver-side front window. He was driving, and he wasn't waving a gun around, he said.

Former Coastal Carolina football players Mario Tynes, Ricky Johnson and Eric Brown are no longer enrolled in the university, Mary Eaddy, a special assistant to CCU President David DeCenzo, said on Tuesday.

The three 19-year-old redshirt freshmen declined comment about their situation and decision Tuesday when reached at their apartment. They were arrested on gun and drug charges at 2 a.m. Sunday morning after all three had played in Coastal's game Saturday against Chowan, which concluded four hours earlier. As redshirt freshmen, this was the trio's second year with the team, but their first year playing.

ha, they were redshirted. What a waste of 3 schollies.

read somewhere that efforts by the school were being made to recoup the schollie funds from these guys.
