The Coastal Educational Foundation decided in a meeting this morning to terminate a lease with the developers of a proposed arena, Coastal Carolina Arena LLC.

The foundation, a nonprofit that supports Coastal Carolina University and owns the land on which the arena was to be built, voted to terminate the lease in part because of developers' failure to meet certain lease requirements, which put them in default, according to a three-page motion the foundation's board of directors approved.

Surprise, Surprise, surprise.

They expected it just like everyone else. It sucks for them. They really deserve something better than frickin Kimbel. They have very nice facilities in everything else, but their gym is terrible, and they'll agree with that in most cases.

can we have the plans for it? That place would look killer on our campus. VERY classy looking.

When we talked to Cliff Ellis the other day at media day, he was adamant that something would get done on the arena. So we'll see.

this really sucks for the Big South all together. The less of these 2000 seat garbage holes that our teams have to play in the better. Can you imagine what would happen if one of these teams was good enough to get a 1 seed? The championship game on ESPN would be downright embarrasing.

I've already seen some Gyms on ESPN during the BSC that was embarrassing...I cant remember if it was last year or the year before but it looked like a High School (for no reason other than the lighting)

Vermont from the America East conference...their gym is a glorified high school gym

That's what Kimbel is. It is just like a high school but has real chairs instead of bleachers. My high school gym was bigger (and brighter). They deserve better than that craphole.
