A Sea Of Red

This year's fans have no clue what to do. Most of them are not used to being in the position they're in. Boston's never the favorites, so they have no clue how to act. Cleveland fans haven't been able to cheer in October in how long? Rockies fans haven't been here for 12 years. Phillies fans are flipping out. And I haven't even mentioned Cubs fans yet.


It's rather funny how many fans of these teams have popped up that you haven't heard from in the past 10 years (and I don't mean just on FF).

Which makes it even more remarkable that they have more than twice as many world titles as anyone else in the MLB!

So Super what's your point? You could say that every year in almost any sport. It's fun for those of us who have had very little to cheer about. Should we sit by quietly, while our teams are winning?

That's not every year. Last year in the NL it was the Mets, Cardinals, Padres, and Dodgers. The AL was NY, Boston, Detroit, and LA (I think). The only team last year not used to it was Detroit.

Then there are people like me who's team didn't make it for only like the second year since I've been able to comprehend baseball... and I don't know how to act.

I was at game 5 of the 2003 NLDS between the Cubs and the Braves in Atlanta. I was really surprised at how little the Braves 'fans' cared about their team winning that game. The place was over-run with Cubs fans. The Braves fans behind me were given their tickets in downtown Atlanta hours before the game. They were told that the ownership couldn't stand to see more blue than red in the stands, so they were giving the tickets away to people who would cheer for the Braves.

I guess that's what happens when you are so used to winning.

By the way, (not trying to rub anything in, because we all know what happened in the next series...) that game was one of my top 5 sports moments of all time. The Cubs hadn't won a playoff series since 1945. It would have been nice if they had won at least one this year...

Braves fans were so used to the NLDS it didn't matter. The real playoffs weren't til the NLCS.

cubs will come back. 1995 ALDS, Mariners vs Yankees. Mariners lose first two in new york to come back to seattle and win three straight. Manager of that Seattle team? Sweet Lou Pineilla. Manager of this years cubs? Sweet Lou

I hope you're right. This might just be the thing they need to break the "curse"...do things exactly opposite of how things have gone in the past. To be honest, though, I haven't been super impressed with Lou's decisions so far this post-season (only 2 games, but...). I hope things turn around tonight. I would put this one in the category of a "must win" situation. duh.
