Not so sure the Campbell athletic department could get the finances over the hump to fund it. Can you imagine luring recruits to BUIES CREEK?

that would be interesting. they have been raising money for their new convocation center to replace that high school gym they play in for a few years, so funds would concern me too. if they did have football, they could recruit the fayetteville and raleigh areas pretty hard and get some good talent, but yes buies creek.....awful!!!

Coastal 89 reports it will be a non-scholly program.

Campbell is in the A-Sun for most sports, they were one of the initial founding members of the BSOUTH.

Campbell has examined other opportunities for conference membership. We are associate members of the Colonial Athletic Association for our Wrestling team as well as associate members of the Northeast Conference for our Swimming team. To this point, the Atlantic Sun Conference has been the home for the majority of our sports teams and a good fit for Campbell University. The Atlantic Sun Conference includes other private institutions (Mercer, Stetson, Jacksonville, Gardner-Webb, Belmont, and Lipscomb) as members and allows Campbell to maintain the "no Sunday play" policy for our student-athletes.

Campbell should have never left the big south. they always have a good soccer and golf program. i remember the LU/campbell soccer rivalry was pretty heated. their travel costs in the A-Sun have to be incredible. i would rather have campbell than longwood, if the big south expanded.
