Yeah, the ISU one is numero uno. Did they bring in the same person who did Ok.St to design this stuff? The whole thing is pretty sweet, how they even show you what the uniforms will look like and all. Well done.

Eh...I'm think I'm done beating that drum. I will say that I dig the dark blue helmets with the deep gloss, and the red daggers, although, I must admit that I do prefer the "bird" portion of our current logo condensed and "beefier" than it's current elongated "strung out" appearance...it just seems more visually appealing to me that way.






As far as our supposed Varsity letter logo, try as I might to convince myself otherwise, I just don't see it joining the pantheon of iconic Varsity Athletic Logos on par with a ND (to which we aspire), Southern California, Michigan, et al. With National recognition at the highest level of athletics the stated goal, for me personally--and I realize that I'm just one voice, it doesn't convey that strong iconic look a perennial national player should have...it more reminds me of Radford's RU they use in their logo...a combo more aptly suited for an academic script than an athletic branding icon in my opinion.


But, I've made my peace with it all , it is what it is







As for Iowa State, each option seems pretty bold and classic to me. The ISU one seems to create a nice balance and work well off the white helmet...

I hate that bird logo you use. It looks like an angry parrot. I think it's pretty obvious we need the letter logo on the helmet.

Or a white helmet.

I'd be fine with using some version of the athletic logo if you could actually tell what it was. When it's scaled down the way it is now it just looks like some white vomit was spilled on the side of the helmet.

Our logo looks best on white. I say white helmet it is.

I'd be interested to see the logo on a white helmet vs the logo with the white backround on a blue helmet. I honestly think that the entire problem with the scaling down is due to the loss of the white outline.

Why silver? Silver's not a school color.

I don't think it would look nearly as sharp on red, white or blue. If I'm not mistaken, and I very well may be, I believe Liberty has used silver helmets before. Plus silver has become somewhat like white and even black in that it seems to be somewhat accepted to use it even if it is not a school color. I'm pretty sure that neither Hawaii nor Kansas State have silver as a school color yet they each have silver helmets (Hawaii's only part time).

I think silver only works if you've got a solidly symmetrical block graphic (ie., the Hawaii 'H', the Dallas Cowboys' star, etc.,), which we don't have.

I think we'd be fine if we just dropped the "Liberty Flames" portion of the graphic and put a white outer glow on the bird. I hope to God we never go back to white or red helmets. I know we probably will change at some point down the line but I really hope not. Red helmets do not wear well and inevitably turn orangey-pink. It ends up looking somebody spilled a box of Kaboom! cereal on the field. White helmets I just cannot abide. I absolutely hate 'em. Hate, hate, hate, hate 'em. They show every scuff and scrape and, to me, they look like little more than empty billboards. Nothing says high school football more than a white helmet. (Note: Penn St. is grandfathered in here. Theirs is not a classic look that Penn St. wears, it's a classic look b/c Penn St. wears it.)

Not quite. There is a photo of silver helmet with a logo in a circle with some flames coming of the circle (ala Tennesee Titans). But I believe the only time I've seen it was in a picture of the flood. So maybe they were new, were washed away and never used.

Yeah, I would switch that out. Maybe navy or Carolina blue.

But the blue logo & stripe on the white helmet is pimp. I would love to see them wear this for homecoming.
