Bobby Wilder has discovered there's no eHarmony.com out there to line him up a date for homecoming.

Or for any of the other 10 Saturdays his Old Dominion University football team has free in 2009, for that matter.

Wilder, his coaching staff and athletic director Dr. Jim Jarrett instead have been working the phones feverishly since March as they try to line up a first-year schedule for the upstart squad.

"We've spent at least 100 man-hours on this and have contacted over 120 schools," Wilder said.

Why not Liberty?

ODU appears to be asking for home dates with no returns. I'm not sure what all we have on our schedule locked down for '09, but with the addition of PC & Stony Brook we don't have as many non-conference holes as we are accustomed to in the past.

With ODU, a home-and-home or no deal. Thats part of the reason why a lot of our programs don't play them.

What's all that about...ODU have a chip on their shoulder, or just cash-strapped for travelling? I mean, that's just ridiculous...isn't that like the significant other's family laying it out that it's their house for the holidays...every time?

Must not be too bright over there in the athletic office to act bewildered why you've put in 100 man hours, contacted 120 schools (isn't that akin to over half of FBS and FCS combined?), with nothing to show for it.

Maybe a couple of the flag football league teams around tidewater have an open date and don't mind playing at Foreman with no return dates...

Lame.

Yeah, I'm confused too. What's up with the home-only deal?

There are plenty of schools in the Tidewater area that a home-and-home should be no problem...W&M, Hampton and Norfolk State shouldn't require hotel rooms. Christopher-Newport is D-III, and they're looking for schools like that to.

A-Train, it wouldn't be a problem if it was a home and home. That's the point, they want someone to come there and play, with no commitment for a return trip.

Yes...and I was calling them out for being stupid. Its that way across the board with their sports, which is why our women's bball team won't play them.

We could get a few flamefans together and take them out.
