Is anyone excited about Barry Bonds HR record? It seams as though only people from the Bay area are juiced up for it. I'm more excited about the Rockies still hanging around this late in the season! In my mind Barry is gonna always have an * by his name!

I couldn't care less.. he has singly handedly turned the "greatest sports record" to shame. Besides, he's just keeping the seat warm for a few years before ARod takes it.

i personally don't care. i believe that he cheated. we have grand jury testimony that he did. i also agree with alot of what schilling said. however bonds gets hated on too much only because he's handled this whole ordeal horribly wrong...hes an a-hole...

arod and pujols both will hit 800 and i think that if griff can dh somewhere or stick in RF then he may even get there...

Not sure if you meant to do that, but nice choice of words anyway.

The only thing that matters this year in baseball is the Cubs! 1st place! Everyone knew the Alcoholics would fold.

Cubs fans should never bring up the word "fold" with two months left in the season and practically no room for error at this point.

As for Barry, I hope he doesn't get the homer on this homestand so he can be booed unmercifully on the road when it happens.

No room for error? Have you watched a Brewers' game lately? The fans are about to run Yost out of town.

As for the Cubs and folding, I think this is a different team. The Cubs of the past have had a habbit of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory more times than not. This team seems to go the opposite way in those situations. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out, but I would be surprised if they don't have a 5 game lead heading into September (and beyond).

Speaking of the Brewers, they are imploding. Estrada and Yost (two former Braves) almost came to blows in the clubhouse this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers won't pitch to Bonds in LA. Wouldn't it be ironic if he broke it IN Atlanta?

A similar question was posed to all of the Hall of Famers who were at the induction of Tony and Cal indcution this past weekend. The media types were all around Cooperstown for this event, and they would ask the HOFers their thoughts on Tony and Cal, since there was also the possibility of Barry passing Aaron that same weekend, the question was posed to them, "Should Barry get into the HOF if / when he breaks Aarons record?" The only one that said he should get in was Sparky Anderson, all the rest said that they would never recognize Barry's record...that Aaron is the true leader. They said they would let in Pete Rose before Barry, because all though Pete did bet on baseball...he did it while he was a manager, not a player, and he bet that his team would win. That said...it doesn't look good for Mark McGuire either.

He's got a 7 game home-stand before the Atlanta trip. They get 4 with the Nats and 3 with the Pirates. I like his chances of seeing some decent hangers against those pitching staffs.

You're right though. It would be interesting if he did break it in Atlanta.

I hope Bonds crushes the record....Do we know for a fact that no one before Bonds had ever done steroids....Also, has Bonds ever been tested positive for steroids?

Let the record show that I am no Barry Bonds fan. HOWEVER, I am going to take a different slant on the record. (Hands up if you are suprised)

Baseball is a sport AND entertainment. If you take the second half of that equations who cares if he took performance enhancing substances? Some of us old timers would argue we liked our rock and roll stars BETTER when they were on drugs! Hollywood actors and actresses? How many of THEM are loaded when filming? Sure he is going to break the record and ENTERTAIN us n doing it. That is all that we need to expect. HOw boring would it be if HE were boring? I mean A - Rod is going to break the record soon anyways so let Barry have it for now. Fame can be fleeting. Anyone remember Nakisha Sales? I feel the same way about Bonds as her. It wasn't the "best" way to get the record, but it wll not stand long and "justice" will prevail.

As for the CUBS: LOU DUE LOU DUE LOU DUE LOU DUE LOU DUE and did I mention Woods is being activated today?

Even if you look at it purely as sport, sports have rules and standards. The standard for setting athletic performance records is that you do it out of your own ability. It's apparent that Bonds didn't have the ability without the 'roids. Therefore, his record should not count.

Ex: If I used a special basketball with a zip line attached between me and the goal, I could sink 3-pointers all day long. I could probably even break college and professional records for shooting 3's. It would probably be pretty entertaining, too. You're telling me that should be okay with everyone?

I am sick of the whole Bonds thing....I just don't understand if the feds have so much evidence against him why don't they do something about it??? I have never once understood that....maybe someone can explain that one to me....

I am not saying Bonds is innocent or anything like that...but if there is so much evidence against him then why hasn't anything been done to HIM....if the feds would step up and do something then maybe this whole homerun thing wouldn't even be an issue because he would be out of baseball

so you have no problem and encourage breaking the law and cheating as long as it aids in entertaining you?....good now we know where you stand...you must have no problem with what vick is accused of....
