From the Charlotte fishwrap:
Presbyterian steps into Division I
PETE IACOBELLI
Associated Press
Presbyterian starts a new journey Sunday, stepping up to NCAA Division I status.
The athletic department has planned for this since announcing 15 months ago it would give up its long-held Division II status to join the Big South Conference.
It's been an exciting time around the athletic offices, basketball coach Gregg Nibert says, in recent weeks with staffers and athletes discussing what's ahead.
"Now we get to have our cake and eat it, too," said Nibert, who'll coach his 19th and most difficult season this fall.
Nibert's team is jumping right into to Division I basketball competition. The Blue Hose will play NCAA runner-up Ohio State along with regional heavyweights like North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Georgia.

This cracks me up
along the way defeating Division I-AA Charleston Southern 42-0.
"I think Charleston Southern won a Big South" football championship that year, Nibert said.
so this must mean they will dominate this season right guys?

How do you infer that we're full of ourselves from reading that article? The only thing that even hints at cockiness is what Nibert said about "watching out for the Blue Hose." I know coach Nibert. He's not an jerk. What was he supposed to say, that we're gonna get creamed this year? And anyway, Nibert coached the 30 point disaster loss to Winthrop this year, so he knows the calibre of play in DI and the Big South. With regard to the comments about Charleston Southern, some of y'all need to back off. We were DII then, so excuse our excitement when we ended up blanking by 42 the BSC co-champion in 2005. WE considered it an accomplishment. Didn't know it would get so many people's knickers in a twist...
Aside from a few PC fans who let their enthusiasm and excitement turn into trash-talking, the vast majority of Blue Hose are realistic about what will happen this year. We're all just happy to be playing DI sports and lining up against teams that people have actually heard of. But even if we do need to be brought back down to earth, Furman, and not Liberty, will affect that result.

Yo Kilts, just a word of advice:
I've noticed in reading the PC board that you enjoy picking on Newberry. That was fine in the past. However, you are now DI, and you are now required to direct all Newberry-esque jokes to Radford. It's just the way things work. You can make the same jokes (dirty, STD, they suck, etc) and it'll fit perfectly. Just replace "Newberry" in your head with "Radford" and we'll be good.

CCU may work as well- a bit closer for them .

Yea, but Radford's more fun to make fun of.
I've been at Coastal so I know what stereotypes are true and which ones aren't so it ruins the jokes for me.

Of course...the school formerly known as Baptist College would work, too.

Ok, here we go, your introduction to making fun of Big South Schools:
Radford: anything goes. Ugly, whores, STDs, stupid. You name it, it's ok. Acceptable yet cliche'd names: Radfurd, Radturd, etc
Coastal: New Jersey, Myrtle Beach, drinking, golf. Acceptable yet cliche'd names: Conway Tech, UCLA, USC-CC
CSU: High school facilities and they suck, at everything. Acceptable names: Chuck South, The School Formerly Known As The Baptist College
HPU: they're friggin purple, panfan says the landscape is changing but it still hasn't, and they're perfectly happy finishing 4th. Anything higher is worthy of canonizing the coach.
UNCA: We all forget about them.
Winthrop: Gregg Marshall's gone, but you can still make fun of him. They don't have football either.
VMI: We don't really make fun of them too much. They're trained to kill us.
Liberty: We're a bunch of conservative virgins who can't watch rated-R movies or talk to the opposite sex.
There ya go. That's the list of cliche'd topics to make fun of BSC schools.

Hey, now! Don't egg the guy on Medic.
SJ, great list. You did forget one cliche'd name...Win-throw-up (stole that from Dabnus on CoastalFans).

Dude, I said cliche'd. It's the stuff that everyone says without knowing what's really going on.

So the things about the other schools aren't true?

Some are, some aren't.
