I was going through the Richmond Spiders web-site and stumbled upon this...I don't think that has been posted before...

I hadn't seen them. Those are pretty sweet. But they seem to somehow find money for those types of projects. They have a small but generous alumni base.

when you have first market bank putting their name on it and bobby ukrop from ukrops supermarkets giving cash that certainly helps. UR stadium that exists now is a dump though that old place used to host the NCAA men's soccer final four.

It holds 9,000. Not that much when compared to other 1AA stadiums. I don't think that they draw very well anyway thanks to the small enrollment. I am assumming that they are putting field turf down and not grass.

A
$1.388 Billion Dollar endowment doesn't hurt either.

This might just be me, but i hate when football stadiums include the track...in high school it "ok" but not really preferred for me...in college, especially if you are Division I; put the track somewhere else....its brings the fans closer to the field...its just better...
ok thats my opinion...i am done here

Obviously it is preferred to have a separate track facility. But that really didn't become commonplace at all up until the past 15-20 years. And some schools don't have the financial wherewithal to be creating track-specific facilities.

I'd like to see JMU, Richmond, ODU, Coastal, Appy State, or some others, and LU jump to 36,000 stadiums.
It'd be great if we could all form a conference and go 1-A together. (I know it's not probably...but I can dream, can't I?)

JMU - couldn't fill it
Richmond - definitely couldn't fill it
ODU - they haven't even played a game
CCU - they have trouble filling an 8000 seat stadium for day games
App - they could in a heart beat
LU - let's average full capacity for 12,000 first
