I found out about his death in the most unusual way, I was going thru wikipedia looking at wrestlers and found his and saw it said his birth and death date and I said to myself I just saw him wrestling recently. Then it dawned on me today is the 25 of June 2007, what a shock it was. His wife Nancy was previously married to a wrestler named Kevin Sullivan.

Just heard on MSNBC that police are now investigating these deaths as a murder-suicide.

Good lord, I don't watch wrestling anymore - ahvent since the real ECW went under - but Chris Benoit was one heck of a wrestler, very fun guy to watch when there wasn't a bunch of soap opera like dialogue occurring every 2 minutes.

That was all they said, although since the initial reports indicated firearms were not involved, it's hard to imagine a female killing a physical specimen like Benoit any other way, unless it was something like poisen.

The biggest speculation now is some type of gas leak because it was a new house.

The Benoit/Jericho match is reminding me how much I loved Chris Jericho.

I got the Pay-per view last night and Benoit was supposed to wrestle for the ECW belt but he felt just before the show to handle "a family emergency".....There are several questions that make this whole thing very interesting....I agree with you on Y2J...I wish he had never left....I am glad that they got rid of that storyline with Vince and the 3 hour tribute was done very well tonight...

I had been waiting for the ajc to put an article out and they just released this one...
In its ongoing attempt to constantly outdo itself, the World Wrestling Entertainment recently staged the "death" of its chairman in an apparent limo explosion.
Monday night, the largest wrestling organization in the world grappled with a real-life murder mystery: What led to the apparent murder-suicide of superstar wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and child inside their expansive Fayetteville home
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/ ... enoit.html
Officials have not disclosed how the family died, other than to say the deaths did not involve a gun.
"The details, when they come out," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard, "are going to prove a little bizarre."
Very curious to find out what they mean by that...

You meant Benoit in your initial post.
I really hope it wasn't Benoit doing the killing, if it does turn out to be a murder/suicide. One of the things that has been said is that the "family emergency" was that his wife and son were coughing up blood.

Murder suicide police are now saying. I wonder if he used steroids during his career and if that could have caused him to go off on the deep end.

There appears to be some question as to whether or not Benoit ever was here in Houston.
My first reaction when I heard the circumstances was carbon monoxide poisoning. But this appears to have a much seedier underbelly. Its amazing how short the lifespans of wrestlers tend to be.

The latest
The same day Detective Bo Turner of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told television station WAGA-TV that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, and the station reported that investigators believe that Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend, then killed himself on Monday. [87] At present officials continue to investigate and autopsy results are expected on June 26.

I have to think WWE is regretting the decision to be so hasty in airing a "tribute" show.

A few new things I found from the AJC...
Police have not said how the three died. The bodies were found in three rooms. Autopsies were planned for Tuesday.
that "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends" to contact the wrestling company, which then asked Fayette County sheriff's on Monday to go to Benoit's Green Meadow Lane home and check on the family.
Authorities initially had trouble getting to the home because of two large German shepherds on the property, the WWE said. Sheriff's deputies were standing guard at the home on Tuesday morning, keeping back the media and the curious.
Benoit failed to appear at Saturday's live wrestling event in Beaumont, Texas., and at WWE's "Vengeance: Night of Champions" in Houston Sunday night. WWE said Benoit had a "family emergency."

Very weird situation.
I didn't realize Nancy was married to Kevin Sullivan, Benoit's old nemesis from WCW days and now one of the head bookers of WWE.

This is all very crazy...Chris Benoit was one of the greats and he was often overlooked...but he was never one of those guys you ever read bad things about...he was very respected....If the double murder-suicide thing is true then it is completely shocking...and Benoit is one of the last wrestlers I would have expected to be involved in something like this....chances are he has taken roids in the past, and we all know how drugs like that can play into someone's temper
crazy situation for sure

Fox news report said Benoit strangled his wife, smothered his son as he slept and hung himself in the weight room.
Kevin Sullivan used a dark side, satan worship as his act for wrestling, Nancy was known as fallen angel in his group.

Chris BenoitTMZ has learned more about the deaths of WWE wrestling superstar Chris Benoit, his wife and son -- and the information is extremely disturbing.
Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths.
One source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time.
According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.
A police investigation is ongoing.
