Renteria=Dirty Bush-leaguer

Did you catch his slide tonight against the Cubs? Throw his tail out of the game!

If you didn't see it, Cubs' pitcher Ted Lilly got tossed after hitting Egg-face with 2 outs in the first. (Funny how Hudson did the same against Soriano last night and nothing was said.) No warning was given before the game. The ump had a mic on and said "I just knew he was going to do that. I was waiting for it, so I threw him out." Say what? Then Renteria slides hard into second and drills the second baseman with his forearm. He got to stay in the game. If the Cubs had a deep bullpen right now, they could throw one in his ear next time up, but they have to go the whole game with a short pen anyway.

It felt better to vent. Thank you for listening.

Payback. Don't want to get physical? Don't throw at players.

This isn't about Rentaria, its about the ump allowing him to do that after throwing a pitcher out with no warning.......plus the SS who knew he got drilled on purpose should have laid Edgar out on his cocky tail........( he was a rookie, he would have had all the excuses in the world)

renteria is a clean player who made a bad decision, so to call him a dirty bush-leaguer is a bit extreme. i blame the umps for not taking better control of the series.

Baseball takes care of itself. It wasn't dirty. It was baseball. It's not one of the parts of the game that make it great, but it's part of the game. We're way to quick to label someone as dirty because it's something to talk about and the media can argue about it.

We need a good baseball fight sometime soon.

i forgot jon you know everything. i think it was a dirty play, but renteria is not a dirty player. one play does not make a player.

You don't have to be a dick about it. You think it's dirty, I don't. I didn't say I was right. I gave my opinion. That's what message boards are for.

Lighten up.

i actually like rentaria.....the whole weekend was bunk from my standpoint...

game 3 of the series: huddy smokes soriano with the first pitch of the game. i'm ok with that, thats what you do and soriano likes to watch. ump comes out to warn both benches. the ump starts jawing with the cubs bench which i thought was stupid...then the braves hit us again later in the game. nothing happens. sweet lou raises his arms and the ump goes "PUT YOUR ARMS DOWN!"....wtfudge, he can do what he wants. then another guy gets a pitch behind him....nothing.....regardless of whether or not they were on purpose (i don't think either were as they were offspeed) you've got to do something especially after the warning....

game 4: you've got to do the same thing after lilly does what he does, issue a warning. it worked for game 3 didn't it?..to eject is stupid. then he should of at least done something to renteria.

what i'm more mad about is its apparent you are lifting marmol. why dont' you hit rentaria again in the 3rd....thats the way it should of went down....we don't see them again until next year now....

haha...dirty bush leaguer....am I the only one that finds this phrase funny??

haha, ok, i'm done

ps....it wasn't that bad...but then again if i had it my way a lot of these things considered "dirty" would just be part of the game....

If they'd do that more often it might keep me awake during games.

I don't think Hudson orginally threw at Soriano to begin with, and Soriano shouldn't have ran his mouth at Hudson as he passed the mound later on.

I don't know if Lilly was throwing at Renteria or not. I half way think if he was going to throw at someone, he would have done it to Johnson or Escobar (first and second in the lineup, Renteria hits third). But then again, if you're going to throw at someone, throw at their best player (Right now that would either be Renteria or Francoeur [see the sig]).

I think Renteria threw the arm up on purpose, but it was a smart play. He knew he could get away with it and leave it up to the Cubs to retaliate. It just sucks that was the last game between them this year.

Even if all of this were conjugated up by the Braves, I say, well done. Things like this give teams a lift, and with the Mets losing, the Braves needed a win.

And I agree with Jon, baseball takes care of itself. John Smoltz said the same thing last night during the in-game interview. If Jon doesn't know everything about baseball, I would say Smoltz has a good idea about it.
