I'm watching that game and their field is SICK...
...100% Field Turf...except for the mound and homeplate. Even the "dirt infield" is fieldturf.

App's new field is like that. I didn't pay attention to Louisville's though.

I think Michigan is using the same thing.


I have nothing to back this up, but I seriously think our "stadium improvements" might include field turf.

I'm assuming it's Michigan since they're the home team in Game 1. It could be Oregon St. I think it is Oregon St because of the crowd.

Still trying to figure out the brown fake grass that's supposed to look like dirt.

Why wouldnt they just use real dirt? Cheap(free), easy upkeep(none), close to the real thing for the purists (it is the real thing). Are they scared of the seam?

The upkeep is harder than it looks, but still not hard.

The beauty of the turf in the dirt is you never get a bad hop. You don't have to worry about a lip from the grass to the dirt, etc.

I hated it at first. It's growing on me now.

It didn't seem like the guys had issues sliding on that stuff, either.

The dirt isn't exactly free...according to Lee Bishop (former linebacker here at LU, current RD, worked with the Dolphins between graduating and being RD), the Marlins paid $200,000 for their infield dirt. The Hillcats also have a huge budget just for dirt.
