if so, what position and what bats do you swing?

i play men's church league, regular mens C league, and a coed team that is fun.

i swing Worth Mayhems and Worth PST's...have 2 of each....

no i'm not softball guy(cut off sleeves, eyeblack, wristbands), i just do it to stay active....that and golfing...

I played intramurals for two years...I just swung whatever bats they gave us to use, lol. I played catcher and third base.

Ive been one of these guys that has always said bats dont matter....wow, do they ever....i've always used a white steel single wall bat simply b/c i like to hit the gaps...but once i bought a Miken Freak 98 I'm now hitting pretty much a homerun whenever I want....it'll do things that will blow your mind

my whitesteel folded like a tin can...

the mayhems i have are similar to the freak 98. the freak 98 is pretty much a tank.

yeah you'll have people that say they don't matter....and for me, i can take a crappy bat and still get on base consistantly....but with good bats you turn liners into the gap from singles into doubles as they get by the outfielders much quicker....

I got beat twice by Hold my Own!!! The only fun we had was walking one of his teammates on purpose 8 straight times:)

Hold My Own - He was mad - what was he saying? Was he even really that good. He just seemed to take it really bad.

I was on a slowpitch intramural team for all of one game. this was not long after I had arthroscopic knee surgery. My knee gave out while I was playing catcher and I haven't played since

Question...could we start a FlameFans intramural team next year? I love me some slow pitch...even if I haven't played in about 8 years.

Count me in. If you like 6-4 inch 225 lb power hitters with speed  (Note: Some of the measurements and the assessments of talent may be slightly exaggerated!)

SLOWPITCH?? I played slowpitch for the longest time and now I can never play it again. I joined a fastpitch league about 2 years ago and it makes slowpitch seem like bowling in terms of excitement. If you can find a league near you (they are few and far between), join it, it's so competitive and fun. The problem is finding pitchers for the league, our league is comprised of former collegiate female pitchers and guys in their 50's, 60's, and our starter, who is 74 (no joke). Apparently fastpitch leagues were more prevalent back 20, 30 years ago and the only male pitchers left are older. Our guy is amazing, he literally had a colonoscopy and then pitched the next day, and he can throw HEAT. I think I also find it more fun b/c I'm not suited for slowpitch---it's a out of shape, fat guys game where you just hit bombs or nothing. You can steal bases in fastpitch, lay down bunts, and for thinner guys like me, turn yourself into a gap hitter b/c the ball is coming in faster. In other words, it's much more like baseball!

Ha, I guess you've seen the t-shirt that says "slowpitch is for sissies." There does tend to be some elitism among the fastpitch crowd.

I don't know anything about the IA tourney but I know there is a big one in Virginia. I'm hoping to play in that one this year.

I know you guys are always dying for a SCAR story about what a great athelete I was  . Anyway, I had a goal in the mid 90's when I lived in Northern VA that I would hit a home run and dunk a ball in the same day. Kind of my ode to Dion Sanders playing baseball and football the same day for the Falcons and Braves. I finally did it. The dunk was easy because I played against celebrities and psuedo celebs like me for a radio station so we had games all the time. The home runs (3) came in coed softball but all 3 were 300 feet bombs. That was fun. I usually didn't hit for power but I figured I would try it. Those were the days when I could just think about doing something athletically and then make it happen...Except ice hockey skating. That is so hard! Anyway, I love slow pitch softball and when I get settled here in Richmond I may join a team. Co-ed for me though. I played mens and coed leagues in Fairfax County and Coed is just more fun and relaxing. Don't get beat by a girl over your head in the outfield tho or you will never hear the end of it.

softball guy= cut off sleeves, trying to re-live their glory years of high school baseball, nicknames on the backs of their jerseys..ie "hammer" "big dawg", and numbers like "69" or their old high school number, heading to the sporting goods store and picking up some blue or red dot softballs, and talking about the newest bat on the market. that is softball guy to me.

Yep, that is the slowpitch softball guy. My 8 year old cousin could hit one out with the bats they use.

ugg....played 4 games today....

went 11 for 13 w/ 2 hr. 2BB and a few rbi's...so not a bad day....the last 2 games were pickup games with a team that needed a guy to play....i said sure....the wind was blowing out and these yokles used up all the hr's (4) within the first 2 innings....4 hr, 6 runs  way to be efficient....so i went backside the entire time....went 7 for 8 with most of my hits going to right field...

needless to say, i'm exhausted...

does trbc still have their sunday school tourney?....we used to play in that....
