The Sportsline's last day on 105.9FM WLNI is Friday....Here is were we are moving to in Lynchburg and what other stations we are going to....Roanoke is one of them and to that we say finally!!!!

Expanding the coverage I understand but why the move off of 105.9? Are they going to be broadcasting completely from the Bunker or what?

from what GMTM told me, yes they will follow greg roberts. i has hoping htey would just can him, but not happening.

He's a complete tool. Radio is about all he has left.

agreed. he should not even be on the radio. he failed at tv, his restaurant failed, and i can't believe his radio show does well, but he is "gobbler greg" and he is in roanoke, so the tech fans love him.

He's horrible. I don't care if you like Tech or not. You could air one of our conversations around the table at Vinny's and it'd be more entertaining.

we all know roberts is horrible, but his show revolves around VT, especially during football and hoops season and any opinion that does not agree with him on VT he pushes to the side. the fact that he likes rocco is good, because that is airtime for LU in a city where we have really never got much coverage.

I can talk about alot of things on Monday once we make the move....until then all I can really say is that we are moving and we have nothing to do with Roberts...Just putting our show on that station...As for WLNI I have no idea what programing that they are putting on there during the 6-8 time slot....

I see Proto made a purchase.......i guess it will help ESPN ratings...we will see.

I miss the days when LU alum Bob Sturm hosted the Sports Line. Anybody old enough to remember "The Sturmanator"? He left Lynchburg to go to a big-time radio market in Dallas (waiting for Sly to come back with a Texas reference).

I am not convinced that is a great move...I lose reception from 1320 in the evening...I love my XM!

XM is the deal, haven't listened to regular radio in a long time. I remember Bob Strum good guy, wondered what happened to him. He did some radio/media work during our first BSC Championship mens basketball win down in North Charleston, when I met him the first time.. I used to listen to him on LNI when on my way to The Burg.

Apparently, Sean Hannity's good buddy, Mark Levin, will be taking over the 6-8 slot on WLNI.

i love XM as well and it will still be my number one source but im going to give the sportsline another try. if they can talk sports and stay away from all the nonsense, it would be cool to listen to local sports talk radio again. i loved it when i was in raleigh. speaking of bob sturm, he is still on the ticket in dallas/fort worth. here is the link to his show:

Smoothy, as long as RR is there, the Sportsline will never be a strictly sports talk show. "Sports entertainment" is what he calls it in his sign-on. Emphasis will be on pro and national and State major college sports (UVA and VT). Minor league and HS sports pretty much off limits, and they will go off on rabbit trails (frequently double-entendre) any time Roth feels like it. It's a formula that has worked for them.

Back in the day when the show had a bit more flexibility for caller input I used to phone in and talk LU sports. I'm happy to see that after a period when you could listen to the show regularly and not even know that D1 sports teams exhisted right here in Lynchburg, things are swinging back a little and it looks like at least LU football and men's basketball will be getting some air time.

It's a long story on how things have unfolded for the Sportsline, but they in fact will be moving over on Monday to 1320, 1240, 1350, and 106.3. They also will be producing the show out of the Prototype Office in Forest. Greg Roberts will be doing his show from his house in a newly installed studio and plans are being made to expand the live Central Virginia Sports related shows by adding "The Virginia Sports Report - The Radio Show" in the near future hosted by Sammy Eanes and Justin Ditmore.

With being mandated to power down the station at Sundown, steps are being made to solve that problem in Lynchburg. A translator, which re-transmits the signal on a FM station (93.3) has been installed temporarily on Timberlake Rd. Once all required FCC paperwork is complete, a permanent tower will be installed up near Wingate and the signal will be strong all over Lynchburg and surrounding Counties.

It's a great move for the Sportsline, because they will be on a dedicated sports station, increase there listening area instantly to Gretna, Smith Mountain Lake, Roanoke and there surrounding counties.

I'm working on Rich, Larry and Greg to spend more time talking about Liberty.
