This probably deserves to be a part of the 'offseason hilarity' thread:

The Mid-Continent Conference (home of teams like IUPUI, Oral Roberts, etc.) had a pretty bad name to begin with, but the new name and new logo isn't any better...so as of June 1, the Mid-Con will be no more, but instead it will be known as:

The Summit League...

I'm not joking, that's what they are calling themselves.

As I mentioned over on WEF's board, I have feeling there will be more than little confusion with the Horizon League that also calls the Midwest home.

I wish this weren't true. The MidCon is an ok conference that appears to be searching too hard for a way to better themselves. This name change is a step in the wrong direction and I have to believe wasn't really all that well thought out.

Actually, I don't mind the name change. There are already too many M_C Conferences. This certainly doesn't improve anything but it eliminates some of the confusion.
