It certainly would be odd timing. And possibility of Joshua Mack leaving seems just as curious.

Mack got suspended once this year for missing curfew. The "living above the law" sounds right.

Is this guy TRYING to get fired? Is the Dunton-Samuels Club really that exclusive?

hey, samuels resigned! My favorite part of this guy almost leaving every couple of months is the fact that he hasn't done anything in the successful relm of coaching yet.

Yeah, Samuels "resigned". And, if you believe that, I've got some prime real estate in Arizona to sell you. It's got a canyon and everything.

Samuels "resigned" just like Bobby Bowden's son "resigned"-the one who was the OC at FSU

Buzz is always the bridesmaid but never the bride. He's never leaving.

An Appy poster says Buzz is headed to the Bobcats as an assistant coach for a half mil a year. That seems a little high for a 3rd assistant but with Buzz's old roomate calling the shots I would assume it is very possible.

Keep in mind they just hired Sam Vincent and Sam needs a staff. I'm sure that his Airness suggested Buzz to Vincent.

This story clearly has some legs.
BOBCATS-HIGGINS DEAL IN WORKS
Bobcats front office stays busy
Peterson may be scout; Brezec sticks with team
RICK BONNELL

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. --It appears Rod Higgins is coming, Primoz Brezec is staying, and Buzz Peterson is deciding.
That was the news of the day for the Charlotte Bobcats out of Wednesday's pre-draft camp.
It's possible that Peterson -- one of Jordan's closest friends -- will join the organization as a scout. Peterson sat with Jordan at the pre-draft camp Wednesday and appeared to be taking notes on players.
Peterson acknowledged he's talked to Jordan about a position with the franchise. A source familiar with the situation said that probably would be a scouting job.
Before taking over at Coastal Carolina, Peterson coached Tennessee, Tulsa and Appalachian State. He and Jordan were members of the Tar Heels' 1982 national championship team.

Vincent also said he's leaning heavily toward retaining Bobcats assistant Jeff Capel and expects Coastal Carolina coach Buzz Peterson to join the basketball staff in a non-coaching capacity.
Ford and Peterson would add to a trend, in which managing partner Michael Jordan hires longtime associates. Ford and Peterson are fellow Tar Heels. Peterson was Jordan's teammate and roommate in Chapel Hill.

Not going to lie, I'm slightly jealous of Buzz to be able to work side by side with MJ. I wonder if he wakes up in the morning and simply thanks MJ for giving him every opportunity he's ever had b/c if he wasnt his team mate he could have been the one taking the Tenn Temple job.
And for the record, as much as I hate Marshall I think Buzz may be more selfish of a person, to leave at this point and leave CCU behind the 8 ball is a very selfish move, but why should that surprise us he's threated to leave 45 times and at some point people are just going to say, JUST LEAVE ALREADY I"M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT.

eh, I kind of like it. I don't really like Coastal all that much.

In a bit of an LU connection, Lee Rose was a mentor of Jeff Meyer when he was the head coach at Purdue and JM was a graduate assistant. JM always credited Rose for teaching him how to organize and run a practice, among other things, and I believe they stayed in touch throughout the time Jeff was at LU.

Peterson said Wednesday he has spoken to Jordan about possibly joining the Bobcats.
Peterson, set to begin his third season as the head coach at Coastal Carolina, told The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C., that he was "intrigued" by the idea of joining the Bobcats as a scout or a member of their basketball operations.

BOBCATS HEAD COACH SAM VINCENT
(On if Buzz Peterson is in the mix)
Buzz is in the mix, (but he) probably won’t be on the coaching staff. He’s going to be involved in the organization. We feel like Buzz adds a lot of value from a lot of the collegiate stuff he’s done, and just his overall basketball knowledge. But he’ll be involved. I haven’t spoken to Michael (Jordan) specifically on what his title is going to be yet, but I’m sure he’ll be a part of the organization.

Buzz is as good as gone. Will be interesting to see who Coastal can get this late in the game. With this late departure, and possible transferring players, Coastal may be a RU, CSU type team this year.
