You think we look just a tad out of place on their schedule? I guess Toledo probably says the same thing about us.

The PSAC teams usually only play one OOC game a year and that's usually vs. the WVIAC. However, Mansfield dropped football after last season and they actually to look for one more game.

We've lost to several schools on that schedule even after we went 1-AA.

Who did we lose to? I thought we beat all our non-DI competition over the past 15 years or so

We lost to Indiana PA and Kutztown when S Rutigliano was here.

I remember the IUP loss my freshman year. I didn't know much about small college football at the time but I just couldn't understand why we got spanked on our home field by a D2 team. I kept asking my roommate, "We're Division 1, aren't we?"

IUP is pretty big for a DII school. My sister went there. They had a really strong DII football program at the time.

There's been some chatter on the D2 board -- may it rest in peace -- about IUP moving to D1 sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Any chance they'll ever start a varsity hockey program? They already have a good club program

I'm a Ship grad and actively seeking information on 2007 Ship opponents for another online forum for Ship football. I was shocked when I saw a new opponent on our usually all PA teams (and Shepherd) schedule. I'll be honest, I didn't even realize Liberty was 1-AA until I looked them up. A few of my friends may end up making a road trip down to Liberty for the game. The stadium looks nice in the pictures I've seen. I realize we'll probably get beat pretty good but I'm looking forward to the atmosphere down there.
Ship is returning a lot of players from a team that played around .500 last season. It's tough to tell right now how well they should be expected to play. The defense is usually pretty solid but the offense is generally run oriented.

Thanks for dropping by, Kevin. I'd love to know what forum you are referring to. We post the opponents' board each week during the season so we can have interaction with the opposing team's fans.
Yeah, many of our folks had never heard of Ship prior to this scheduling. But those of us who are familiar with the PSAC have respect for your league. Even though we believe we should win convincingly in our matchup (63 scholies has its benefits).
Don't be a stranger around here. We love learning more about the other teams on our schedule.

What is this "online forum for Ship football", Kev? I ask b/c I've been looking for a Ship forum and the only one I've found is the D2football.com board.

Well it's pretty new and not very big, but I actually put together one of those FanGroups on fannation.com ("Red Raider Nation" if you try searching for it). So while the forum isn't quite what you've got here, it's something I've started putting together for some posts for and such. The problem with Ship football is there isn't a regular flow of information about the football team like there is at the 1-aa and up levels. Ship isn't exactly the top tier of even division two. A friend of mine and I have been talking for a couple years now about putting together a web site to try and pump up the following a little more.

It has to start somewhere. There were about 4 or 5 of us that really got this board going in its humble beginnings on the old Firehouse. Go ahead and drop us the URL when you get it rolling and I can assure that many of us will come over and participate.

You just added a member, Kevin. Here's the url:

Maybe we could add this to the Big South Boards sticky?

Like Lib I went ahead and joined Ship's board. I might suggest to Kevin that you consider setting up a Proboards site. It will give you much more flexibility and make it easier to operate. But I like your willingness to step up and make something happen.
