I don't have a link, but the Lynchburg newspaper today has special pull-out section about area athletes, with a huge article about RD's son at Brookville and his (original) hopes of playing for LU. Now, according to the article, the only D-1 schools showing any interest are both in-state and in the Big South--Radford & VMI--so if little D does decide to play D-1, it looks like he will be visiting the Vines Center, but as a Highlander or a Keydet.

Cedarville...NAIA D2....about as low as you can go without going D-III. This is somewhat of a shock...but since they are NAIA, then he can still sign with an NCAA school, so I would consider the door somewhat open.

Bryson, that was the chant that would happen everytime he touched the ball in the Vines.

haha. i know, i was just crackin even more.

i can remember playing in the first round of the state playoffs in high school and the opposing team's fans chanting "Screech" and "Shaggy" everytime i touched the ball. this was when i was even skinnier, even whiter, and had an afro!

it's intimidating! if we chanted that, there's no doubt we'd be in his head.

northern vance county HS in NC. i don't know what they were bribing students with there, but for such a small school their fan base was unbelievable.

I've never been to that one. We were in the West until last year when they threw us in the East.

Cedarville is an excellent school where he can get a quality Christian education while enjoying some basketball. I would suggest with his skill set he could be a significant star on the smaller stage. There are worse ways to spend your college years.

And am I the only one seriously tired of the shots at Coach Dunton? He's gone. Let it go, people.

Believe me, that will be one of the loudest games of the year if he goes to VMI or Radford.

You two liked him - there were about 7000 students who didn't.

supported is the word, and thats not the point...the point is we're doing what they are in NM talking about things in the past that no longer matter

Hey, I'd let it go, except for that one game he came and played in The Vines. Other than that one night, it's all McKay.

Speaking from parental experience...it is much more fun to see them play at ANY level than watching them sit at D-I. The Dunton family will make the best decision as to what best fits Matt and his game. Cedarville certainly makes sense to me....game and values-wise.

And coincidentally, the Cedarville Yellowjackets have used that logo in the whmatthews post for decades.

all i know about roanoke rapids is that they put up a serious fight against our cross country team in the states. they were amazing. they ended up beating us by a few points.

also, one of their guys beat me by about an inch one year to knock us off in an invitiational also. not cool.

as for dunton, i've let it go. i spoke to him one time, and he was blatently very rude. since then, i've had nothing for him... not even junk-talk. i'm excited that we have a new coach, and i CAN'T WAIT for basketball to season to come around! oh yeah... and football season. :D

I checked Cedarville's basketball web page, and their head coach is a graduate of Bob Jones University (that piece of trivia is for you, Scar, and thanks again for the cookies). Play Basketball

The whole Randy Dunton thing is really unfortunate. If you knew him well enough, he is a down to earth good human being. Jeff Barber wanted to go in a different direction and Randy had a hard time accepting it. I guess this was Randy's dream job and it did not work out. To be rude and negative publically is not the way to go either. It leaves alot of sour tastes in people's mouths. Alot of the behavior that Randy has displayed that I have read on the board and what I heard from people really surprised me. I feel for the guy, but I have a hard time being a supporter of him in the future based on his actions. I am happy for the men's program to have the opportunity to see a new era and I wish them all the success in the world.
