What an aggressive non-conference schedule with two FBS games and a roadie to Appy.

im glad to see some big south schools upgrading their schedule, but this is very aggressive. six wins.

Ohio and MSU are obvious losses, while Jax and AP (Let's go, Peay!) are obvious wins. Appy and Wofford are losses, as well. I'll give them VMI b/c the Keydets are always injury-depleted by October. On the other hand, CSU has put an absolute beatdown on G-W the last 2 years with their running game and, if anything, will be better at that this year. That's an L. SSU is a win. At Coastal is a loss.

For us, it makes me really nervous that G-W has pretty much owned us in this century and we haven't won in Boiling Springs since the Carter administration. However, with their season pretty much over and us still having a lot to play for as well as being just so freaking good, I think we get this one.

I'll have to disagree with you RTF. G-W basically has nearly everyone back form a team that was showing strong improvement throughout the season a year ago. I'm very concerned with our matchup with them and CSU should be as well. They have a ton of talent that has been developing the pats two seasons just like us.

Yeah, they return nearly everybody. So what? They weren't that good last year and, unlike us or VMI, they didn't show improvement as the season progressed. Yes, they beat us here but I place that loss squarely on the shoulders of our defensive players. That was the worst effort I've seen in a long time. G-W had multiple turnovers in every game on their schedule except for against us. Between Jacksonville and Glenville, G-W turned the ball over 9 times, for crying out loud. G-W was the "Towson game" for our defense if you will.
Second, I know everybody talks about Flagler and how talented he is and blah blah blah. Well, Flagler played out of the slot all year and that means he only gets free if teams respect the outside receivers. Do you know who those guys were? Gaines and Alston, both seniors and both gone. Gaines was arguably the most important player on that team.
Defensively, G-W got killed on the ground. Coastal, Wofford, CSU and UT-Martin all blew G-W out and they did it with the run game. If we hadn't completely crapped the bed in the second half and VMI's defense had been made up of something other than PeeWee soccer players, the Bulldogs would have lost those going away, too. How any player on that defense let alone that D-line got the Big South Defensive POY is beyond me.
The end of the season is where you look to measure growth on a young team and to see if a team is coming together. To me, it's telling that not only did G-W not win in the month of November last year but they got blown out by an average of 20 points, twice at home.
Like I said, I'm more concerned about us in this game than them.

I will have to say the GW has a very good schedule and it shows that they are committed to developing a good program which is something LU should take note of for the future. I wasn't that impressed with there results last year but wins over Tennessee Tech and Southeastern LA were pretty noteworthy but they faded late in the year. LU had no business loosing to GW last year at home in front of 11.7K fans and maybe it was the aftereffects of the W & M homecoming debacle that screwed us up in that one.

They have a good schedule? They have a schedule where they're going to get the pee beat out of em 3 times. That's not a good schedule.

Beating Tennessee Tech and SE Louisiana is no more impressive than beating Western Carolina and Charleston Southern. Actually, beating them by having to come from behind late on both of those teams is even less impressive.
