browsing on the HPU board (home of our beloved Panfan), I was astounded to read thread after thread regaling the accomplishments of one Coach Lundy. I was snickering to myself about the unrealistic expectations of silly fans, and was heading back here to ask:

1. who the heck is this "Lundy" cat?
2. when has this HPU team ever done anything? (I don't even think they were a university back in my day)
3. are they not the CSU-FB of the MBB world (beat lousy competition and tank when you face real opposition)
4. just how wacky ARE their fans? (do they realize without a FB program you're not a "real" college?)
5. what do they have, an enrollment of 1500 kids over there? (and in what state are they even located?)

Then I happened upon a thread asking LU fans to comment on why WE were so ridiculously optimistic (without cause, in their eyes) about OUR team.

gave me some thought as to how we all exist in our own vaccums, all "homers" in our own rights- more alike than we are different.

and Winthrop fans may well be about to feel our pain!

yes- unbeknownst to me, they became a "real-live big kids school" in 1992. Prior to that they WERE High Point College (FWIW- I knew WU as Winthop College as well, and was astounded to check in 15 years later and see how all the little kiddy schools have grown up into real uni's now )

When I went to high school in GBoro for a year, we participated in their team-camp. Probably the highlight of my week there was seeing Anthony Richardson (of Florida Statue lore -- had all the talent in the world but could never rise above medicoracy) dunked on several of their players all week long.

Tubby Smith is a High Point alum I believe. Coach Steele, who was Lundy's predicessor, was there for a loooooooong time (I think 30 years plus) and had an impressive record in their pre D1 years.

when you sign up, find the check box that controls the background color (I think its in PROFILE or SETTINGS)

I changed it to white w/ blue borders- as soon as you log in it changes from that God-awful purple
