Yeah, I know. He's overrated because he played at Texas and not UNC, Duke or UConn. 8)

If Oden declares, it will be very interesting to see who is taken first. It would be a very interesting debate.

I wouldn't want to be the person making that decision. Yikes. I think you have to take the dominant big man, though. If the Celtics get the #1 pick, taking Durant doesn't make a whole lot of sense -- with Pierce playing the same position, they HAVE to take Oden.

But I think I agree that Durant is the best to play college ball in a long long time.

He'll be taking a pay cut going to the NBA...especially with what DeLoss left on the table.

who has been a better college player in the last 25 years??? No weakness on offense and clutch.....

His worst game was against LSU where he had 10 points on 5-15 shooting and he pulled 11 rebounds....but his team won.

Oden will be drafted first because quality big men are so rare

In the last 25 years or so, here are some of the number 1 picks:

Some of these guys were pretty good college players...and more dominating than Durant.

1997 Tim Duncan San Antonio Wake Forest
1996 Allen Iverson Philadelphia Georgetown
1994 Glenn Robinson Milwaukee Purdue
1993 Chris Webber Orlando Michigan
1992 Shaquille O'Neal Orlando Louisiana State
1991 Larry Johnson Charlotte Nevada-Las Vegas
1990 Derrick Coleman New Jersey Syracuse
1989 Pervis Ellison Sacramento Louisville
1988 Danny Manning L.A. Clippers Kansas
1987 David Robinson San Antonio Navy
1986 Brad Daugherty Cleveland North Carolina
1985 Patrick Ewing New York Georgetown
1984 Hakeem Olajuwon Houston Houston
1983 Ralph Sampson Houston Virginia

Duncan last season 20.8 PPG
Iverson last season 25.0 PPG 124 steals
Glenn Robinson 30.3 and 10 boards
Webber 19.2 and 10 boards
O'Neal 24.1 and 14
Johnson 22.7 and 10 boards
Coleman 17.9 and 12 boards
Ellison 17.6 and 8.7
Manning 24.8 and 9 boards
David Robinson 28.2 and 11.8 boards
Ewing 14.6 and 9.2 rebounds
Olajuwon 16.8 and 13.5 boards
Sampson 19.1 and 11.7
Worthy 15.6 and 6.3 boards

I am just using stats....I didn't want to throw records in yet, but based on stats alone....Glenn and David Robinson along with Iverson are the only ones who have eye popping stats like Durant's

The competition that Glen Robinson faced was probably the most impressive, playing at Purdue. Man, David Robinson was impressive -- probably one of the most underappreciated centers of all time.

With that being said Durant probably tops both of them at the college level.

Durant's 18. He was 17 when he entered college.

Durant is going to be a very solid NBA player...he needs to bulk up a little bit...and will probably not have a stunning rookie year, but it will be respectable...I see him being an all-star in 3 to 4 years...

i have one question though....why didn't Liberty go after this kid...I heard that his great great aunt is a huge JF fan...... 8) 8) (sarcasm)

I don't think it should matter how old he is, or how many years he played. Numbers are numbers, it doesn't matter if you did it when you were 25, 22, 20, 17, or 12. If you are going to say someone is the best player in the last 25 years, age can not matter.

Ouch! Sounds like a bitter Former Aggie (yeah I know there allegedly is no such thing) not pleased to be settling for a 17-14 coach from Wichita dropping the program back to reality. And UT isn't the school with aTm as its logo (Does Eric Dickerson still have that maroon 'Vette>).

we simply got outbid by the Ponies for him...Jackie pulled out almost all the stops for him, and don't tell me that tu didn't try to pry him from SMU. Tell me, why would a kid from Maryland...Maryland...go to Austin,TX to play basketball? You mean Barnes is that good of a recruiter to get him to sign? I and everyone else in the country knew he was a 1 and done at tu, but Duke or even UNC would have kept him, but the financial arrangements were already made. Why do you think Ainge was talkin it up with KD's mom? She's telling him, he's got to do better than what Dodds was putting out or we're staying.
