Texans Bring Back Samkon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, April 10, 2007
HOUSTON TEXANS RE-SIGN RB GADO
HOUSTON - The Houston Texans have re-signed exclusive rights RB Samkon Gado, it was announced today.
Gado (5-10, 226) ran for 217 yards and a touchdown on 54 carries last season for the Texans. He also caught 16 passes for 80 yards. Gado joined the Texans in a trade from Green Bay prior to the second game of the season.
Gado is the 20th player that Houston has re-signed from the 2006 roster.

I don't understand: if the Texans "re-signed" Gado, who had he been playing with before this press release?

He was released after the season. Unemployed, that is.

Sort of. The Texans maintained their right to ink him this year and they exercised that right. It doesn't mean he'll make the roster but it certainly doesn't hurt. He'll have to work hard in the OTAs and training camp especially is for some reason Adrian Peterson slides down to 10th on draft day.

Good luck to Samkon. I think he has made enough for him to get through med school by now
