did anyone see this game? i watched the third period. mich st scored with 18 seconds left to make it 2-1. then they hit an empty net shot to seal the deal with 1.8 left. Mich st was the underdog to BC. i love college hockey!

I watched a good part of it...my family is from Maine and I follow UMaine hockey a ton and watched the UMaine game the other day and was just angry at their lack of hustle after scoring the first 2 goals of the game...but at least they lost to the team that went on to win the championship.....that seems to always help me when I am upset when my team get sent home early from a tournament(which is much too common it seems)
Congrats to Michigan...UMaine will be back again...hopefully they won't mess with my emotions like they have the past couple of years

I know I'm in the minority here on this one, but I'd LOVE to see our guys skate against a club like this just to see how we stack up

i'm pretty sure we'd get killed, but hey, mich st was an underdog in that one. probably not as big of an underdog as we would be, but...
i'd like to see us play them to medic

10-0 with 2-3 injuries to our major players.

No, you don't
As good a our guys are, and they are getting even better, both MS & BC have NHL first round draft picks on their teams.
It would be the equivalent of LU football playing Florida.............

No, it would be the equivalent of a D3 playing Florida.

It may be interesting for a while...but not worth the embarrassment...these D1 teams are so much faster, athletic, and just simply better then any players we have that it wouldn't be even a contest...
We are building something though that is for sure...and I don't see why we can not be D1 in 10 years if we put in a plan into place right now....

We would need a better place to play.

which would be why we would need to put a plan in place now...
I was very disappointed with the Ice Center when it opened up because I thought they were going to build a place that would make the transition to D1 hockey easier down the road...but its just a rec rink, and nothing more really...its good now, just not down the road...poor planning I believe
But that is a whole other rant...
I agree a new place would be needed, but I believe if a solid 10 year plan was put into place right now it could be done....it doesn't need to be rushed...because if it was, like you have said SJ, we will get killed

Right. LaHaye is great for what we use it now: club hockey and a rec place for the community.
If we ever go scholarship, we need a place with seats where you can actually see the game.
LaHaye was just planned bad in terms of people watching hockey. The people who built it had never built a rink before.

And you have every right to be. However, since they put the seats in, it's a horrible place to watch a game, especially from the upper level. It's great for what we use it for now.
If they ever get that civic center, it needs to have ice as well.

yeah the only decent places to watch the games is either standing around the rink or getting on the lower level....the upper level is terrible...there are very few seats up there where you can see the whole ice...
Its good for now, and I am far from complaining...its a great thing for the campus to have...but if we ever want to move up in the world of college hockey we can not continue to play in a club/rec rink...
and yes...if this new civic center thing really does happen...ice would be important...they could even bring in Disney on Ice...haha
