Staff Positions Currently Open at TTU

Tennessee Temple University, a NAIA school, currently has positions for:

Men's Head Basketball Coach
Men's Assistant Basketball Coach
Women's Volleyball Coach
Men's Soccer Coach

Its my Dad's alma mater and I've been watching to see if Coach D is in the mix.

No football there, so basketball is the sport, and in the old days Temple used to play UT-Chattanooga every year, back when Gerald Wilkens played for Chattanooga. They have a decent gym, bigger than many in the BSC, and Danny Lovett is trying to increase enrollment. Hiring RD would be as big for them as hiring Coach McKay was for us.

I would be suprised if RD is in the mix for TTU, you have to remember Lovette probably knows more than most about the RD era, or knows who to talk to. However, maybe a "Faith and Cartwheels in the Temple" program would get him a quick look?

Oh boy. If Lovett and RD both ended up there... Whew. That place would certainly be on a winning streak.

My coaches in high school played there.....there are 4 total brothers and they are in the top 10 all time scoring there.......Tim Murr is one of their top candidates

The Murr brothers can play! I played open gym with them a few times in Raleigh. They would show up late so they could all be on the same team and then they would never lose for the rest of the night. It was pretty disgusting. Does Tim still coach at Grace? or Friendship? I get their first names all twisted.

if this is the same murr brothers they started out at berean christian in salem, va. those boys could play!

Any relation to Bobby Murr? I would assume they probably are considering this discussion.

I think Tim is from the Shenadoah Valley or something like that......I don't remember

indeed the murr boys were at berean back in the day. the pastor at grace chapel is rudy holland who was the pastor at berean before they went bankrupt and closed the doors years ago. dr. holland is a good man. im glad to see he is doing well.

Tenn Temple is going down the tubes...its sad to watch....ask some of the Alum's

At least DL's daughter is playing basketball for them....in the media guide they had her as Seminole POY or something like that....well, she wasnt lol

Actually, HMO, TTU had gone down the tubes years ago. No matter what everyone feels about Lovett on here he has made some positive changes in Chatty that have helped that school from near extinction. He's trying to pattern TTU as an LU satellite school for all intents & purposes. There are worse places for them to be aligned with IMHO.

I love Rudy....he is a great man.

I hope speaking about the Murr brothers show how much I have learned about the game. They got me to transfer into Grace my sophomore year and I learned more about basketball in one year than I learned the first 16 years of my life.

Also, I hope hurricane fan can agree with this....Armon Jones looks like a good prospect

Stephon Leary has a much better job than the TTU gig.

Actually according to Scar form the coaches convention last week in Atlanta, Stephon is back looking for work here in Texas.

But I agree that I don't think he's a good fit. Stephon is a dynamic recruiter.

The best player Tennessee Temple ever had was a 6'6" power forward named Anthony Eubanks who transferred there from Ole Miss, and played at Temple from about 1980-83. Eubanks' favorite shot was a 180 reverse behind-the-head dunk, and he used to average about one of those per game.

Anthony was actually listed at 6' 8" and he was an incredible athlete. I used to go to TTU basketball camps back when he was a player there and he was fun to be around.

He played pro ball overseas for a number of years and the last I heard he was the team chaplain for Clemson.

I thought that James Ransberg, a center a year before Anthony transferred, was the best TTU player ever. He was all NCCAA first team all american for 2 years. A 6'8" center would could shoot lights out.

My first year at Temple (1979), the post players went 6'9" (James Ransburg, a Marine veteran), 6'8 1/2" (pig farmer's son from Indiana whose name I've forgotten) and 6'8" (Steve Dillon from Huntington); and our point guard was a 6'3" freshman from Orlando and our shooting guard was 6'1" (Mike Minet). And then Eubanks joined us the next year or two. And Ron Bishop was our coach in those days.

Bishop was a great guy.

Keep in mind we were TTU's competition at the NCCAA level back in those days when Meyer was jumping beginning to get our program rolling toward Division II.

When I was there the starting 5 were: Paul Pridemore, Eddie Mullet, Anthony Eubanks, James Lucas, and Kevin Hicks. Ransburg's name was always brought up since they beat Lee College 2 years prior for their first NCCAA title and he was there best player and an All American. I do remember Steve Dillon and Mitch Steiner being on that team along with Benny Polk. Steve Dillon was kicked out of school for divorcing his wife and then Eubanks became eligible and beat Bethel College for the crown. I remember after I transfered to LU that they had a few good years in hoops and then went into the dumper. Then they eliminated schollies. When I was there TTU's enrollement was about 3K and was bigger than LBC but that soon changed.

Yes, I remember the "Happy Joint" as I called it back then. I went to TTU after getting the boot from Bob Jones U and spent 1 1/2 years their before moving to LBC. TTU was a relief from BJU but just not what I was looking for. A heavy emphasis on the hard core theology, evangelism, and church involvement. LBC was more my style with a contempory style to everything that they did. I thought LBC had more going for it and a brighter future and I was right on, hence the transfer. Chattanooga was a nice city with nice people, weather, and plenty to do.

I have a TTU basketball t-shirt that I bought from goodwill.
