Not surprising at all. There is no reason the real UT shouldn't be competing for national championships every year. Jody had just slipped in recent years a bit.

good gosh sly......does EVERYTHING revolve around texas?? coach G will do a great job at texas, but if she could not win a title at duke, then how could she at texas? she could be the coach to do it though.

According to reports, the women's b-ball program at dook was losing $2 million per year. I can't say I blame Coach G. She builds one of the most dominant teams in terms of wins, & her team still couldn't get the support it needed.

Easy smoothie. Back when Jody was keeping the top tier talent in state, UT was in the Final Four nearly every year. But as she has gotten older her grip on top talent has slipped and Summit has used it to win numerous titles.

Getting someone without Jody's baggage (sorry Brokeback) in Austin will likely help keep the top talent like Nneka Igwumike in state instead of going to Tennessee or UConn like much of the top tier players have in recent years.
